Like, one that has never been produced before ever? This summer I did a show called The Butterfly Scroll. A guy I know wrote it along with his wife and sister, and they went and got it produced at a theatre in the area. So they got a cast and we put on a real show. It was pretty darn cool. The score was amazing, the costumes were unreal. The book was pretty weak, though, and it has to be reworked for any future production. Just thought there could be some interesting stories that come of this.
EDIT: This is a picture of me (on the left, I'm the cat) and another cast member. All of the costumes were hand made specifically for the performer. They were all so amazing.

Posted: 10/11/05 at 7:12pmI was in an original musical about the millenium called "Everything Must Go." Bob Telson was our musical director. I also did my friend Cameron's original musical about 9/11 (sounds bizarre, but it worked - very moving). He's a brilliant guy and he wrote a great show.

Posted: 10/11/05 at 9:34pmI was in a show a few summers ago called Kala:A Musical Faery Tale. The director had written especially for the program which is a summer youth thing. There was talk of it going somewhere, but I'm not sure if anything ever happened. It had good music that I still listen to. We recorded it and everything. It was awsome.

I was in a production of "The Cretaceous Cabaret"... I didn't like it much, but it was aimed more towards kids. I believe we were the first theatre group to do it outside of a museum so it was a "theatrical premiere" so to speak. my character sang "The Age Of Reptiles"...

It's great to create a character from scratch.
I completely agree with that. I loved that there were no preconcieved notions about how my character was supposed to be. Totally all my thing to decide (well, and the director's). Granted, I played a cat.

Thanks, Eponine! Well, you can be sure I'll post about it if and when I'm doing something again.
I just did this neat "all-star" staged-reading of Casablanca at the Pantages on 10/2 (it was an Actors' Fund benefit). That was fun. And I'll be doing my Christmas caroling gig this year (I've done that every year for the past 6 years - well, except that I skipped doing it last year 'cause I was in Paint Your Wagon...) Anyway, point being, I probably won't be in another show 'til January. :-P
The photos above are of me with Dan Castellaneta (aka Homer Simpson) and Edward Hermann (Gilmore Girls) and Ken Howard (orig. Thomas Jefferson in 1776 on B'way and the movie) from the Casablanca reading, and then me in 42nd Street this summer.
(I'm a photo-posting fool tonight! lol)
P.S. No more thread-jacking, I swear! Let's get back to the topic at hand. New shows. Yes. Very cool to work on. =)

Currently I'm working in two one-act plays that are part of a larger night of one-acts. One is called "Dead Dog Tattoo" and the other is "Three-Way". And "Three-Way" is not what you think.

Kimmy: first of all, I adore your avatar. I don't think I've ever seen that photo of Miss Hepburn before. It's stunning!
Secondly, lol re: "'Three Way' is not what you think."

My friend wrote a musical and created one of the roles with me in mind to play it.
I was also in the Pennsylvania premire of 'Sottopassagio' where the playwrite rewrote/added lines for me.

my first show in college was the original musical version of Whistle Down The Wind, we did the NOrth American Premiere. The story was something like ALW loved it when he saw it in England and attempted to obtain the rights but they refused them to him, so he decided to create his own version. (ps. I still like ours better - more heart!
)
I was also in another premiere in college of a straight play that I believe is now getting on its feet in California, really beautiful moving play about hidden children of the holocaust in Holland.
Was also in a first official reading of a show written by a professor at college.
And my best friend is at grad school for musical theatre composition so I've done some of his material (shows and songs he's written) :)
I feel very lucky to have done them all, it's priceless to be the first to personify a role, no matter what scale it's done on.
