The world premiere of Andrew Lippa's new musical. It opens in less than two weeks!

Posted: 8/12/04 at 9:58pmah i didn't realize the Theatreworks production was the world premiere! I work summers for the youth theatre that shares their performance space. Go Mountain View, California. I'll definitely be seeing it because two of the child actors in the cast were in the "Les Mis-School Edition" I produced there last fall.

Posted: 8/12/04 at 10:18pmI sure will. I'd better get tickets, I didn't even realize this production was news anywhere outside of the Bay Area. Theatreworks does a lot of cool shows, but rarely do I see them mentioned on Playbill. I'll post a review.

Posted: 8/12/04 at 11:33pmI was going to do the workshop of this last summer that Doug Sills was in (he played Captain Crewe) but I had to back out. I have a CD and the songs are GORGEOUS...the stuff the girls sing is so intricate, probably one of the most difficult scores written for children. I know a few of the girls in it now, enjoy it! They're fantastic.

I am SO excited about A Little Princess!! I work for Will Chase (who's playing Captain Crewe) so I'll be flying out to CA to see him the first night of previews and again on opening night. :) I will most definitely post reviews! I'm in love with the music and am anxious to see what they're doing with the staging.
This is a publicity photo of Will (as Captain Crewe) and Mackenzie Mauzy (as Sara Crewe).

Hey!
I'm the BlogMaster for TheatreWorks' new blog:
http://theatreworks.blogspot.com
Tehre's a lot of stuff on the blog about this production of "A Little Princess", including an offer for 1/2 price tickets to the two previews of LP, only for blog readers.
I'm going on Wednesday the 25th to the 1st preview and can't wait.
It sounds really cool (although since the book was one of my favorites as a child I'm a little concerned about plot changes.)
The latest link I put up was to a clip of Andrew Lippa singing a song from the show. He sounds terrific.

"Live Out Loud" has been my favorite song on the demo CD, I love it! Andrew sounds great!
Elisa, I've been enjoying your updates on TheatreWorks' blog. I read about the discount for blog readers the other day but unfortunately I bought my tickets back in June.
When Will left for CA in July, he had only received a "draft copy" of the script and nothing had been finalized yet, so I know about the major changes that were made and I'm interested in seeing how they handle it all. But I'm most excited about hearing the music to Act II!! Keep the updates coming, Elisa!! :)

Posted: 8/16/04 at 11:43amI have the demo cd with 9 songs on it, and it is very very good. Live Out Loud is very good even though it sounds a little too contemporary for the piece.

gregorytittle,
What part do you understudy for? Is there one girl in particular that plays Sara that you think is the best and will become a big star on Broadway. Also do you know of any place where I could find pictures of the beautiful set you desribed. Was the this production designed by Heidi Ettinger, or is that just when it comes to broadway?

Hi:
Yes, Heidi Ettinger did the sets for this production at TheatreWorks.
I'm seeing the first preview tonight, so I'll be sure to post my review :)

Stardust, you work for Will Chase?? I love him! I saw him twice in Miss Saigon, he was fantastic.
Is this musical based on the film, "A Little Princess"? (Which I'm assuming is based on a book?)
