I was wondering if anyone knows any news on a new cast recording of "Anything Goes" with Sutton Foster. Will there be a new cast recording? any news from any cast members?

Posted: 5/27/11 at 1:59amMy apologies, no intent on connecting sh-k-boom and the How to Succeed... revival. They do indeed to great work, but I think PS Classics really know how to handle some of the older shows with the greatest of care. Either way, great news!

Posted: 5/27/11 at 7:05amI hope they record the entire score and all of the new arrangements, even if they have to fit it onto two discs... I hate how stuff gets cut or replaced so it'll fit on one 80-minute disc... :P

First let me say that I am truly thrilled that ANYTHING GOES is being recorded. I have seen this revival three times and think it is outstanding. Sutton's performance deserves to be preserved on disc.
I truly don't understand the hatred for the H2S album. Please don't judge it based solely on the amazon clips, which are often not how the finished product sounds. Wait to download it on itunes or buy the CD. I am greatly looking forward to owning and listening to the new ANYTHING GOES recording and the H2S recording.
Now is there any hope for a PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE recording??

I hate how stuff gets cut or replaced so it'll fit on one 80-minute disc Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
80 minutes is a luxury. With Lp records scores had to fit onto two sides of 30 minutes or less and with 78-rpm records each song had to be shortened to a maximum of 3 minutes 30 seconds (and no more than 12 songs.)
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
