VANITIES will be opening in a Shubert house. The only guaranteed open Shubert houses for its projected opening date would be the Lyceum and Schoenfeld. You can make guesses as to what others would be open, but for now those are the only ones which don't have a new production announced officially.
GUYS AND DOLLS will be opening in a Nederlander house. Only the Nederlander and Neil Simon will be open in Spring 2009 as of now
Just for reference, here are all the Broadway theatres and which organizations own them:
Shubert: Ambassador, Barrymore, Belasco, Booth, Broadhurst, Broadway, Cort, Golden, Imperial, Jacobs, Longacre, Lyceum, Majestic, Music Box, Schoenfeld, Shubert, Winter Garden
Nederlander: Brooks Atkinson, Gershwin, Lunt-Fontanne, Marquis, Minskoff, Nederlander, Neil Simon, Palace, Richard Rodgers
Jujamcyn: Al Hirschfeld, Walter Kerr, Eugene O'Neill, St. James Theatre, August Wilson
Roundabout: American Airlines, Studio 54
Independent/Other: Vivian Beaumont (LCT), Circle in the Square (independent), Friedman (MTC), Helen Hayes (independent), Hilton(Clear Channel), New Amsterdam (Disney)

"Brigadoon will be going into a Shubert theater, whenever a suitable one becomes available. The only one I could opening up anytime soon might be the Shubert if Spamalot's grosses don't get enough of a bump from Clay Aiken."
If they don't get a bump, they will probably close January 4th which is Clay's final performance.
"GUYS & DOLLS would go into the Neil Simon (which would make more sense, unless they go the Donmar Warehouse direction since the Donmar is a smaller theatre from what I understand)."
GUYS & DOLLS was a Donmar production, but it never actually played at the Donmar Warehouse. During its run in London, it played at the (bigger) Piccadilly Theatre.
Ahh...I was kinda confused about that, thanks :)
The Piccadilly is a huge West End house (not unlike, say The Imperial) seating appx 1300 whereas the Donmar is a tiny box theatre seating 250. There wasn't one piece of the 'Guys And Dolls' set that would have even fitted thru the door of the Donmar itself! It was a huge production!
Yes, whenever these threads come up, some posters start to place shows indiscriminately into any available theatre. A big musical like Guys & Dolls with lots of cast members, sets, orchestra members, does not play a 900 seat playhouse like the Lyceum. They wouldn't fit, either physically, or economically. It would need at least a 1,200 seat house like the Nederlander, or better, a 1,400 seat house like the Neil Simon.
But, keep in mind it was announced that this wasn't going to be The Donmar production. It was just going to be A production of Guys and Dolls.

But regardless, Guys and Dolls isn't a little chamber piece, it's a full blown musical. It'll need a bigger house, not the Lyceum.
Here's what I'm thinking:
We're probably going to see VANITIES take either the Lyceum or the Booth, with Lyceum the more probable option.
There has been a lot of verifiable word that GUYS & DOLLS is going to the Nederlander, but the Nederlanders may not have known that HAIRSPRAY was on its way out when that decision was made. The Guys & Dolls producers might have the option to take the Neil Simon, and would probably do so if they could.
That leaves HAIR. Now it hasn't announced anything, other than the fact that its coming to Broadway. The Nederlander would be a good fit, so it could definitely move in there, but who knows?
If HAIR goes to the Neil Simon, wouldn't it save money? I mean, all they'd have to do is chop the "spray" part off the marquee and Voila!
I'm sorry. I know it's lame. But it had to be said.
I laughed, miss pennywise. haha.
Are they going to renovate the Nederlander because it looks like an absolute dump now?
Its a dump right now cos it happens to be a building site!!!!
I didn't mean at this moment. While the theatre was still being used, the celing was falling apart and the outside was being defaced by overweight fangirls thinking it to be the RENT wall.
Hey, y'all, don't forget about Pure Country!
In all seriousness, Pure Country, Reasons to be Pretty, and Blithe Spirit all need theaters, too.

Guys and Dolls will take the Neil Simon.
HAIR will take the Nederlander.
ive been told this is all but official.

The Booth, Lyceum, Hayes, Plymouth, Circle in the Square, Kerr and Barrymore are all unbooked(for now at least) for the Spring. And I would not be surprised if the Royale and Beck were free by then either.

The week before Rent closed I was at the lotto waiting for it to be drawn and the lotto guy who worked at the wicked lotto last year was talking to his friend and she asked what was going here (nederlander) after rent. He said Guys and Dolls (while rolling eyes).
Right, but that was before Hairspray's closing was announced. It is possible that the producers of Guys and Dolls might now want the Neil Simon theater if the Nederlanders are willing to lease it to them.

I would assume that the Simon would be far more attractive to the producers of Guys and Dolls.

Does any one know when the Nederlander theatre will be done with renovations? Don't forget it is going to be brand new because they are gutting it. And Hairspray is most likely going to extend and if it goes into the summer it probably wont close till the end of the summer b/c Hairspray is the type of show that does very well in the summer but really bad in the winter. So time wise the producers might want or be forced to take the nederlander.

I think a show like GUYS AND DOLLS would fare really well at the Neil Simon. And, maybe, if you want to put Alan Menken's LEAP OF FAITH anywhere, that would probably be the best place to do it.
Or, maybe we could use the current revival of JOSEPH that's currently playing in London to fill in the gaps, and maybe get Jake Wilson to play the title role. That would be interesting...

I'm going to assume that Vanities will take the Lyceum... it seems to be the most suitable place for it.
Blithe Spirit wants to open in a Shubert house at the end of February. It would fit well in the Schoenfeld, and the timing would work out perfectly with the closing of All My Sons on January 11.
reasons to be pretty could take the Booth? Actually, I think it could fit in the same type of house as Blithe Spirit... so I'm thinking that whichever takes the Schoenfeld, the other will take the Booth.
I can see Pure Country going into the Kerr or the Barrymore.
I think for colored girls still has the Circle in the Square, since they were techinically postponed and not cancelled.
