I dont know but I hate hate HATE gun shots in shows. I get like scared every time something remotely violent is about to happen. Ive always wanted to start a thread like this so, while we're at it, are there gun shots in:
See What I Wanna See
Jersey Boys
Two gunshot shows I remember:
Sunset Blvd
West Side Story
The girl I was with gasped loudly, jumped in her seat, and grabbed my arm in Sunset...I was so embarrassed by her.
And
Saw a tour of WSS a while back and half the audience gasp and then start laughing when Tony is shot. Ruined the whole show for me.

No, there are no gunshots. A double negative!
But unless they changed how the end of Act One goes there should be none. In Phantom of the Opera, there are gunshots. Just so you know.

The only time I ever jumped at a gunshot was at RECKLESS last year.

The gun shots in Blood Brothers got me. And of course, Assassins.
I always jump at gunshots, even when I know they're coming.
If you want a good laugh... listen to the gun shots on the London/Patti LuPone SUNSET BLVD recording. Wouldn't make a mouse blink!

I always jump as well, Bobby! But frankly I get scared by loud noises in any context. They just seem more pronounced in a quite theatre.

so wait wait wait, can someone please answer my question, flat out without stupid double negatives...are there or are there not any gun shots in The Women in White
thanks
I also constantly jump at gunshots.
Jared: When I saw the show in London in April, there were no gunshots.
Jaredbrway, I bet if you contact the theatre, production office, or such...they can answer it. Try the WOMAN IN WHITE website, if they have a FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS section..go to it, if they have a contact us link..click it.
Producers are pretty good about leting the audience know in advance whether or not gun shots are in the show.
The one in Phantom of the Opera always scares me.

The first time I heard it, I wondered if British guns really sounded like that.
You're forgetting the granddaddy of gunshot shows in here, (well, perhaps after Assassins): Les Miserables.
Kay, the Thread-Jacking Jedi
Quando omni flunkus moritati (When all else fails, play dead...)
"... chasin' the music. Trying to get home."
Peter Gregus: "Where are my house right ladies?!"

Kiss Me, Kate had one - saw the show twice, opening and closing night, and it wasn't in on the opening so scared the crap out of us at closing, lol.
Oklahoma had a few. They cured my jetlag like *that*
Annie Get Your Gun, oddly enough, also had some.
I HATE HATE gun shots in shows. Even if I know a gun won't be shot but is still on stage I get nervous (ie. Nine). And the second act of Les Miserables always makes me antsy because of the bombs. I've seen Les Mis three times and every time Gavroche (sp?) dies, I get nervous and my leg starts to shake after every bomb sound.
Also, does Chicago really have that many gun shots? I thought they just use a real gun sound for the part when Roxie kills that guy in All That Jazz. I'm seeing it on December 3rd for the first time, and would like to be warned

the revival of chicago doesnt use any real gunshots, they just use the drummer hitting the side of the drum, the metal rim of the drum i guess....believe me i was so happy to find that out the first time i saw the show...no live gun shots in the revival of chicago, nothing to be nervous about
I never jump at the gunshots in Assassins. What gets me is the one in the Forbidden Bway parody of the show.
You can stop laughing now.
*breathes a sigh of relief*
NO THERE ARE NO GUNSHOTS IN THE WOMAN IN WHITE (at least not in the london show, so i presume not on bway)
