After SNL, and the delay in her tour, I thought this was a possibility. And when I saw her Snapchat story a little while ago with her playing all those Hairspray songs, I was hopeful. Glad this is happening - may not be the biggest fan of her music anymore, but definitely a perfect fit! Ariana Grande, Kristen Chenoweth, Martin Short, and Jennifer Hudson all in the same cast? Thank you God.

She also is getting tons of Emmy buzz from SNL, so this is just another terrific notch in her belt. This is truthfully the best cast that's been put together for any Live! musicals. I'm so eager to hear the rest.

It really is stellar casting--she's been on Broadway, she has the pipes, she was hilarious on SNL, and she has tons of TV experience. This is star casting at its absolute best. Harvey, Martin, Ariana...so far they're not making mistakes. Lets hope the good casting keeps coming!

Okay I am in! I love this girl! She is just so phenomenally talented. I think the producers are out doing themselves with their casting decisions. Color me impressed.

Well...she has a nice voice but was hoping for someone with real comedy chops. Penny is an amazing part in the hands of a real comedian. We'll see. My worry is she'll just twerk her way thru it.

Watch her on SNL. She is a real comedian. She elevated the show, made it the best it's been in years.
