I have Urinetown auditions in about a month and would like to gear my audition song for Penny -- any suggestions? Definitely a belter, high isn't a problem.
I was in a production of Urinetown recently - you can see a pic from the show here <---------
On the audition flyer for the show - the director suggested something from a "modern" show eg. Kander and Ebb or Kurt Weill. Maybe one of the powerhouse songs from "The Rink"? Cabaret (though this has been beaten to the ground) could work too.
I'm responding because I have Urinetown auditions next month as well, but I want to go for Little Sally. I'm an alto/mezzo, normally a belter but I can hold that back when needed. LOL
re: Little Sally For my college production, a popular song was "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?". I know its likely well over-done, but, for what it's worth, all the girls that sang it got called back for Little Sally.

For Little Sally -
