Hey,
Does anyone know if you have to show your credit card at Jersey Boys when picking up will call tickets? I really don't like the idea of carrying my card around all day if I don't have to show it to the box office. Thank you!
Yeah, those little cards weigh you down so much.
And yes.

Thank you. I didn't mean the weight of the card, I meant security/safety. I don't like carrying a credit card while walking through the city all day before the show, especially at such a crowded time of year.
Do they really make you show your credit card?

It all depends. I'm not sure what the particular policy is for the August Wilson as it is not a Shubert house.

Thank you! I'll try calling before I head there in the morning. Just thought I would try asking here to see if anyone had done it.
If you go last minute, like 10 minutes before the curtain, most theaters do not ever make you show your id. You just tell them your name and they'll hand you your ticket. I've seen hundreds of shows on Broadway and have never been asked to show any proof of identity.
More often than not, I do not have to show ID....but I have certainly been asked. I'd grab it before you go, just to be sure. If you feel uncomfortable carrying it (which I don't really understand - I'm a single woman and I've never had a problem -- maybe if this were the 80s, when crime in NYC was rampant, but not now and not for at least 20 years) put it somewhere other then where you carry your cash. An inside coat pocket for example - so that it's never even exposed.

I have no idea what the policy is, but it would seem to make more sense to bring it with you just in case you get the one box-office person who DOES require it. As others have said, plenty of people carry credit cards around the theater district- heck its safer than cash.
If you are concerned about your card (and anything else you need to carry) - and I think it is unwarranted but it's your perception that's important-perhaps you are a candidate for one of those pouches underneath your clothing that holds cards. In winter I can't imagine not having on enough clothing to put your card securely on the inside. Besides, you should be carrying some ID under any circumstance-not because it is a legal requirement (yet) but because if you drop dead or suffer a sudden case of amnesia or the like it would be nice if someone had a way to let next of kin know...

How quaint.

I don't understand why people have to be rude and snarky when someone has asked a simple question. Why do you care at all that the poster doesn't feel comfortable carrying a credit card? Maybe they were the victim of identity theft before. Maybe they don't want to potentially have to deal with having to shut down accounts and put funds on hold when they are away from home and trying to enjoy a vacation. What difference does it make to you?
Because people were trying to allay his fears.
I'm mostly just curious what someone who doesn't want their credit card on their person does about money while out. I would personally be more apprehensive carrying a wallet full of cash than a credit card. What about an ID?
Seriously. I'm curious.
FWIW, I lived in NYC for 15 years and never had a single incident. I've lived in Philadelphia (a city of 1.5 million) for two years and never had a problem. The one and only time I was ever robbed was in a suburban parking lot. Go figure.
I've lived here all my life and never had any issues. I also keep my wallet in my front pocket but that's for comfort not safety.
I never have more then 50 bucks cash on me because I only use credit cards, earn free cash every month and pay it right off. It's way easier plus if I actually did get mugged I would just give them my wallet if I had to and go and cancel the credit cards. Sure it would be a pain to replace them but it's better then losing a ton of cash plus injury/worse.

Just to clarify..when I ordered the tickets, it stated I would need to show THAT credit card at the box office. I didn't know that, or would not have used that particular card. I do NOT like carrying THAT particular card around. That's what I was saying, for everyone who wanted to be judgemental and make harsh comments. Jeez. To those who were helpful, thank you!!
I keep reading the subject heading as a sentence. Sadly, August Wilson will not be calling policy.
In my many years of will-call experience, I've rarely been asked to show the credit card, despite the fact that the confirmation email usually says that it's required. And the fact is, if you don't have the card but do have some form of ID, the likelihood of them denying you the tickets is vanishingly small. Probably zero.
