Eug: SPOT ON!!!!

this thread is littered with spoilers, and the subject should be changed to contain a spoiler warning ... very sloppy posting here. re: August: Osage County WHOA!

Sorry, I get sloppy when I am excited about something. Actually when I started it, there weren't any spoilers at all. So leave your accusations at home Judge Judy!

LOL.

If there's a thread called WOAH, I'd assume there'd be spoilers. Either go see the play or don't read the thread.

i didnt accuse you of anything, sparky -- just suggested that there were sloppy posts in the thread and that the subject line was in need of editing to protect the innocent. if you connected dots, it must have been a guilty conscience at work. :P

besides, im more of a suze orman than a judge judy (tho without suze's bad hair or big, um , closet) ...

... her nails are better than mine, tho. =:o

you know what happens when you "assume", walt -- when this thread started, the "WHOA" was a general exclamation of excitement ... the spoilers evolved.

i saw spoilers ... a mod saw spoilers ... another poster made reference to having to stop reading because of spoilers -- i say we have a "duck" here.

thanks for making the modification, chad!

For those of you who've gotten seats through TDF for AUGUST:

What day of the week did you see it and where were your seats?

I just want to know if I'm better off trying student rush.

I got two sets of TDF tickets (one during the strike) one was Monday and the other Friday. Both seats were in FMEZZ E center. I enjoyed the show up high, the big set and all the action are better to see from up there.

Saw it on Thursday evening. First off, the WORST audience ever! Cell phones going off everywhere in the theater and talking. More shushes than I have heard in a theater ever. The ver nice ushers at the Imperial were just beside themselves. They were running all over trying to find the ringing phones. I talked to them during the 2nd intermission and after the show and they were prefusely apologizing for all of the distractions with the phones. They were just as upset as a lot of audience members.

The show...It took a few days for me to think about it. This show takes the dysfunctional family to a whole new level. Wonderful performances all the way around but not all perfect, in my opinion. Although funny, Jean Fordham's, performance was my least favorite. I found her to be a wee bit too "stiff" and deadpanned. Her character should have bee softened just a bit. I kept thinking of Christina Ricci as Wednesday in the Addams Family movies. Ms Dunagan was a wonderful mess as Violet. Her character seemed to slip in and out of her drug induced state at will but she made it work. Mattie Fae Aiken was a culmination of every aunt we have ever had. She was excellent and when it came time for her to reign it all in, she was superb. But for me, the real star here is Barbara Fordham. She could have taken this way over the top but did't. She got close at times though. The way her character "developes" takes you a bit by surprise but then you realize that it is not a surprise at all. The set is wonderful and if you go, don't sit in the last 4 or 5 rows of the orchestra section as you wil not be able to see the top floor of the set and that floor plays an important part in the show as it does end there. Also, was the Sanford & Son theme song included when anyone saw it? I spoke to a few people who don't remember hearing it. Had to be one of the funniest moments in the show. If so, those of you who have seen it know what I am talking about. I suggest that if you are even remotely thinking of seeing this show, you should. And please make sure you turn your cell phone off in the theater! One woman across the aisle from me didn't and it rang right during the very final moments of the show. So those are my random thoughts on the show. I just saw The Homecoming this afternoon (Another dysfunctional family!) and I am now seeking therapy!

I noticed a similar thing about Madeline Martin's (character: Jean Fordham) performance. Very similar to her role in Californication and the...I think Honda (maybe Volkswagen?) commercial I've seen her in. I'd like to see her in a different kind of role or at least with a different take on a role rather than the roles I've seen her in. Versatility can be a good thing.

Chad, Fantasia was out the evening I saw it. CHaka Khan was in for her!

I posted this in another thread, but it looks like they aren't selling the last 4 rows of the orchestra section. They were all empty. I sat in a last row seat at the second intermission and then a seat 3 rows up and you cannot see the top room. I sat in row M on the right 3 seats off of the aisle and could see everything.
