This probably was one of the best plays I have ever seen. The acting, the story, the lighting! Everything came together with such dynamite. I would go purchase my tickets now before Mr. Brantley gets his hands on this show. This will be the critic hit of the season. The theater is so large, so I am sure you will be able to get a seat. I recommend sitting in the balcony. It is a lot easier to watch the story unfold with some perspective. What are you doing now??? Run to the Imperial!

Since Isherwood reviewed this production of the play when it was still at Steppenwoolf in Chicago -- he didn't rave, but was positive with a few reservations -- he will likely do the re-review, not Brantley.
I have an orchestra seat for this Thursday. I am pretty excited as it is the one show I really want to see on this trip.
I agree. This is one of the best plays I have ever seen. The cast was absolutely amazing. At one moment hilarious and the next heartbreaking.
Isherwood is reviewing it again.
Great play.
I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it, uncageg.
I will post my thoughts on Friday morning! I'll try to put them in this thread.
Is it still running 3 hrs and 20 minutes?
I still dont have tickets for this show, though I bought two sets of tickets for different dates (which was later cancelled) I am targeting the date of 12/15 Saturday matinee. I cannot do evenings. I get tired easily the next day, if I stay up so late. I like to go to bed at certain time and Ive heard the play is very long (3 hours and 30 mins with 2 intermission) I cannot do Sunday matinee too bec. I will be home very very late.
I really dying to see this show!

Yeah, if you want to be home early going to a matinee is the way to go. It was 3hrs and 25 mins today.
No, the problem is I have a 6:30 bus to catch...so I'm thinking it wont work since it starts at 3:00. Thanks for the info!
I will be on vacation so no time restraints!
It's still veeery long. But oh so very good.
They have a new marquee up. It's in the shape of a house and has a group picture of the cast.
I'm really glad they changed the marquee on the 45th Street side. The original -- red block type on a bright yellow backgroud, was too similar to the marquee for 'Rock 'n' Roll' -- even the angle of the text was similar.
Go see this show!!! More than a month later, I am still thinking about it. Can't wait to see it again.

I would say that the Isherwood review of the Chicago production is a restrained rave.
He gives you every reason to see the show, and basically says that Letts is on the verge of achieving the success of Martin McDonagh. I'd buy a ticket for a show with a quote like that any day.
I started reading the review and stopped. I will wait until after I see it.
I may be wrong (and too often am) but according to someone connected with AUGUST, Brantley will be reviewing it.
I saw this wonderful show yesterday afternoon (Sat). I certainly hope that the running time doesn't prevent people from attending. It doesn't feel like a long drawn out epic. It is a funny, surprising exploration of family relationships -- many you will recognize as your own. And the family of cast members (who include Letts' father, and all of which are a close Chicago clan) pass the torch from one to the other quite easily. Each gets their chance to shine and they do.
I suggest you see it now before that large theatre begins selling out. What a show.
Once again... it's Isherwood.
Most amazing theatrical experience I have had in a long time !!
A. MUST. SEE !!!
Itching to see this production. But also keeping an eye on my wallet.
Broadway Box currently has $49.50 ticket discounts
Anything cheaper anywhere else?
I paid a total of $58.00 for an Orchestra seat.
I doubt that you can do better than the Broadwaybox $49.50 price. I have a pair of tickets from Broadwaybox for this Saturday's matinee and can't wait to see it. And I wouldn't question Smaxie as to who will be reviewing AUGUST:OSAGE COUNTY. He is never wrong, from my experience of reading his posts. Most recently he correctly said that GYPSY would be returning to Broadway in March, prior to the Playbill article by several days.
Eugene, they have student rush if that is an option for you.
