Posted: 11/4/08 at 7:39pmThanks Lizzie. I must have been distracted hearing the phrase "the Bush effect" said over-and-over on the CBS news.

I can't work out if my favourite puppet is Joey from 'War Horse' or Jericho from 'Oz'. Joey is insanely beautiful and awesome, whereas Jericho is hilariously frightening and awesome. You see my dilemma?

It's like Not Dead Fred... you think it's dead, then it pops up again for another song and dance before Lancelot returns and beans it with a shovel.
Seriously, though... this is scary. Here's what I want to take bets on-- which of the following will be first to close: Lion King, Wicked, Phantom, Mamma Mia, or Jersey Boys?

Phantom, then Mamma Mia, then Lion King, then Jersey Boys. I would also put "Billy Elliot" and "South Pacific" in that mega-hit list. It will be
Phantom first
then South Pacific
after that Mamma Mia
next is Billy Elliot
then Lion King
and then Jersey Boys

Phantom, Mamma Mia, and Wicked totally have enough money in the piggybanks to keep going for an age. Lion King has the entirety of Disney behind it, but Disney can be slightly unpredictable when closing shows. Jersey Boys is probably pocket-monied up enough, but still could go.

Posted: 11/4/08 at 8:51pmThose of you who are predicting that Phantom will close before the other long-runners probably would have said Phantom will close before Miss Saigon, The Producers, Rent, Hairspray, heck even Legally Blonde. These whippersnappers don't know whats coming.

Q does bad numbers, but it's very low-budget.
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if this was true, but I wouldn't trust those wackos over at ATC.
