Same sex Puppets getting married.
An obvious cheap publicity stunt....but..
is anyone offended by this?
I'm on the fence. Just curious if anyone out there is kinda bothered by this.

I can see what you mean. It just gets me when people try and argue that allowing gay marriage will open up the doors to accepting marriages to plants or animals, and then things like this happen...it's like bait for the crazy people.
Overall though it was done in a loving manner I'm sure, and given the tremendous amount of triumph and excitement, I don't think it changes the significance of the day for the worse.

I wish them all the best and you should be ashamed and appear slightly puppetphobic.
They are marrying within their own species.
Equality is to all, including those who spend their life with something up their a**.
It's a joke, if people take it seriously they really need to lighten up.
I think it's cute.
It's a bit bothersome.
It annoys me because if a big budget show pulled a publicity stunt like this most people would be mad. But because Avenue Q is an "edgy" comedy it's okay. Example their Tony campaign. If Wicked Did that and Avenue Q didn't everyone would have said it's not fair. Rant Over

I was waiting for someone else to say something. I think it kinda trivializes what the gay community has been working for by making a joke out of it. That is just my opinion though. I am sure others will find it fun, or perhaps even something to celebrate. Now if Elmo was the ring barer, maybe then that would have been something.

It's different. Avenue Q has always been a show where the characters exist beyond what happens on stage. From youtube videos to facebook statuses to their own public appearances. This is just another thing for them to do and why not?
You haters are the reason Bert and Ernie remain in the closet.
Q has supported Gay Puppet rights from the start and they deserve to cash in on the nups.
I don't think it's different.

Like HAIR?

Lighten up, you guys. It's adorable.
You make it sound like they are doing it for their fans. It's out of greed. They are only doing it for money. I think they are turning gay marriage into a joke.

Here;s the thing: will anyone who would buy a ticket even remember this stunt next week? I kinda doubt it. Move on, nothing to see here.

It's for fun. It was announced on BWW and their Facebook. What are you expecting the general public to latch on to this and think "We should see that!"?
It might appear silly and light-hearted, but it is definitely not for fun. It is a marketing tool, pure and simple. It is a way to get the show's name out there in an edgy, funny kind of way. Dont think otherwise for even a second, because regardless of how we feel about theatre as art, these folks are theatre as *business*.
Why can't it just be "fun" and a celebration of a wonderful event? Sure, they get some publicity out of it -- but what's wrong with that? I don't think thier intent is to trivialize anything.

Intent and perception are not always the same thing.
Good god, really?
It was a fun little publicity stunt for the show that is about acceptance for much of it.
Do people on here just like to make a drama out of nothing to give themselves something to do?
Lighten up, please
I think it's fantastic. If straight puppets can marry, then why not gay puppets?
CurtainPullDowner, Broadway Joe, littlegreen2, TheatreFan4, KirbyCat, LegallyBroadway2, dramamama611, songanddanceman2 and jrb_actor got it.
The rest of you are idiots. You'd probably get a bug up your ass at a Feed the Children benefit. And not for nothing, are Q and I the only ones who recognize that Hair's publicity stunt is in the same vein, but no one said a thing about it?
