Using that block feature on Charlie is honestly the best thing I've done on this board.

Very sad to hear it will close, saw it in April and really liked it. I thought Corey Cott and Laura Osnes performances were worthy of a Tony nomination. I enjoyed the music (got the cast album) and loved the dancing. I always find it a bit more disappointing when original show closes early because IMO this tends to make the money people take less chances on show that is not taken from movie, TV show or jukebox musical.

I understand what I said is not accurate, but I also do not understand why this discussion keeps on happening. I only blocked Charlie because frankly, I did not want to see his repetitive replies on the board. Not to mention he wasn't being exactly positive either. If someone is only writing negative stuff, why would I want to see that? I understand where you're coming from though.

Dude, you didn't say could possibly be or leads you to think it might be, you said "This is a real shame, one of the best shows of the season with an absolutely beautiful cast recording.". You can try to "revise" it now, after the fact and try to make everyone think it's everyone else's problem for overreacting or you can be intellectually honest and own what you said, that you decided a show you've never seen was one of the best of the season. You're certainly entitled to do that and others are equally entitled to point out how ridiculous that is.

Though in fairness, Tony voters might think you're on to something. Instead of having to schlep around and actually see all these shows before voting on which one is best, they'd love to just read the wikipedia entry to see the plot and who's in it and maybe listen to a few songs off the cast album, vote based on that and call it good. Soooo much easier.

Thanks UncleCharlie....I was starting to believe I wasn't reading what I was reading. Words matter. However I don't believe his intentions were bad. But words matter and he kept defending what he said. As far as blocking people and not liking how people respond... You won't do well in the real world if you can't deal with different people and how they react to things.

I've gotta take up for ItOnlyTakesAJourney here. A lot of people don't have access to see a new show every week. Take me for example, I'm a 16 year old girl that lives in the middle of Georgia. The first time I saw a Broadway show, the opening number made me sob. Because I was there. As much as I would want to, I can't rush to see Great Comet or Banstand before they close. But I can confidently tell you they are wonderful and brilliant even though I've never seen them live. Sometimes just the mere appreciation of something makes it great it in your mind. I've never seen Hamilton. But let me tell you, I've done just about everything but seen it that I can do from down in Georgia. And I have as much say as anyone else. Of course I wouldn't be able to comment on a specific performer's portrayal one night because I didn't see it. But I can have a opinion on the show. And I appreciate for it what it's done and that makes it great in my mind.

I'm kind of rambling but Uncle Charlie's response kind of upset me. It's not that deep. That whole comment was just out of line. Don't take it so seriously.

And honestly, as long as someone is enjoying a piece of theatre (live or not) that's all that matters. Shouldn't we just be glad that someone enjoys it? That's a great thing! Theatre matters and I take it a lot of you like it. So support each other and take comfort in the fact that a whole community shares a common love for something that you love as well. It's not a competition.

I think Bandstand will draw crowds in on tour. Not huge, outrageous amounts, but people will be there. I'd love for it to find a life in regional and community theatres, as long as it's handled nicely.

But do all shows go on tour or just the Bway losers?

No, not at all. Major losers never go on tour because no one is interested. Losers on Broadway that could peak interest for the rest of world (The Scottsboro Boys, Bridges of Madison County) end up doing well on tour.

Then we have the very sad shows like High Fidelity and Big Fish which I loved and I NOW I CAN'T TALK ABOUT THEM......
