Very sad, but I doubt the show has had a profitable week.
Looks like Osnes will be free for that CRAZY FOR YOU revival...

Not a shocker given that rush or "rush-like" seats are sold until curtain.

And another show goes. I'm expecting we'll see War Paint and GHD post their notices soon. This is a real shame, it seemed like one of the bests of the season with an absolutely beautiful cast recording. Now I'm bitter that I'll never get to see this live

“We always knew that it would be difficult to find an audience, because it wasn’t branded material,” Tom Smedes, the lead producer, said in an interview. “We seem to have gotten lost in the noise.”
While, I on the other hand, always knew it would be difficult for it to find an audience because it was a hackneyed piece of amateurish tripe.
Best wishes to the actors and crew for their next gigs.
Smedes may want to consider another line of work, however; of his 9 Broadway projects, I think only one turned a profit.

I'm just suprised they're going mid Sept. There will be more that are done before Sept is over.
Always sad for those involved, but always excited for the new.

This was one of my favorite cast recordings of the season, and I applaud them for being a wholly original musical. I actually do think it might have done better in this upcoming season, where there's not as many critical-buzz projects, but I'm glad it made it through the summer at least (although I'm very sad now that I know there's no chance I'll get to see it). Best wishes to everyone involved!

A shame. This wasn't my favorite show (I think the second act had way too many storylines all at once), but I did like the score and choreography. I also think this show might have a strong shelf-life in regional companies.
And "Welcome Home" and "Love Will Come and Find Me Again" I suspect will be lifted by divas for concerts for years to come.

newintown you could not be more wrong in regards to the quality of the show OR in terms of Tom Smedes. Even a quick IBDB search tells you that he has had a wide variety of projects on Broadway. Some profitable and some not (if I am correct, at least 33% of his shows have recouped - which is much higher than the average), but he clearly in it for the art.
Do you like anything?
I want to thank Mr. Smedes and the other producers for bringing this gem of a show to Broadway.

I may be wrong, but I think that Pippin is his only profitable project. And, to answer you question, yes, I do. (If you read more, you would know what.)

I give the show credit for lasting as long as it did.
Like DAME, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

These statements always confuse me. You say it is one of the best shows of the season but you have never seen it.

Don't worry, I just read your brief rundown in another thread trashing the Great Comet score. Thanks for indulging us plebes, for none of us could possibly "appreciate or understand" what you do.

Sad to hear this. Although the story may have had problems; there was a great amount of committed talent onstage. Enjoyed the music and choreography greatly. I suspect it will tour at some point.

See, there you go again. I provided a musical analysis of the simplicity of the score, from an educated musician's point of view, but you, as an inveterate trolling kvetcher, see it only as "trashing."

NOOOOO. This is so sad. It's a great show with a powerful story and two brilliant leads. Not totally unexpected, but a damn shame.

It was an ok show, and some of the performers are very good on their instruments (I'm looking at you, Joey Pero). That said, it was unfortunately not so memorable as to inspire repeated visits nor so catchy as to get the tourist crowd.
What's next? GHD? I wonder if the Bill Murray visit will give it a bump to last an extra few weeks.
So Comet on the 3rd, Bandstand on the 17th. Will we see something on the 10th or 24th?

I'm hoping it gets a bit of a bump! I'm expecting War Paint or Doll's House to go next.

Saw this at Papermill and knew it wasn't Broadway ready. Barely any changes were made. Such a shame considering the talent in the cast.

There is gossip ( and nothing but gossip ) that Dolly is about to announce short engagements of Divas for its show and they want to announce a big chunk of them all at once. I wonder if they are waiting for War Paint to close before they can do this? Just me adding to the gossip.
