It was all meant in love my lovely Trisky....:)
Yeah, yeah... bend over! :P
I feel like I should be supplying the cast with either hard liquor or uppers after each of these performances given how much it seems to affect them!
I know there are a lot of parental issues with our little Bare family which I'm sorry to hear about, but my mother loves me, perhaps a little too much and I have proof.
She just called me at work to inform me that they say nice things about Bare in the new issue of New York magazine. Though they get the opening date wrong, still having it listed as opening September 22. I will scan it when I get home, if no one else has by then.

my mother qualifies as "psycho bitch". She tried to have me 'fixed' by a psychologist when I said I was an actor AND when I said I was gay. She is SOO two faced though. She is all about public appearances -- in public, she is a loving, adoring mother.. but behind closed doors, she can't say one good thing about me.
Sorry to hear that broadwayguy.
I'm thankful for my mother who is very loving, if a bit crazy. If anyone ever needs extra parental love, my mother's got plenty to spare. In fact, she was slightly disappointed when she asked me if I was gay a couple of months ago (based on my interests) and I had to inform her that no, I'm not.

that's funny Trisky!
my 'mother' isn't amother at all. I grew up with an abusive drunk father and my 'mother' would sit by and let him do as he pleased, say/do things to his children thatw ere completely out of line. She would either pretend it wasn't happened or if she was in the room, drop her eyes and act like she couldn't see.

Well luckily, my parents also have plenty of love to share. They've been really cool about my brother being gay, and we actually talk about it quite a bit.
broadwayguy2--I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't get parents like that. At least your bare family is here for you:)
Some people are not meant to be parents, despite the fact that they give birth to or help father a child. I wish they would make that decision before bringing the kids into this world, or once they're here, give them to people who *can* be a parent. Unfortunately more often than not, they don't do either and the child is stuck with the ramifications of that decision.
Hopefully your life beyond this point will only move forward and get better and probably the best thing for you is to just leave them both in the past. I don't believe every relationship can be salvaged and there comes a point where your own well being is more important than attempting to fix something that's clearly shattered.
Not that we're the best substitute, but hey, at least you know you can always come to us, the little BWW Bare family.
*end soapbox*
MOG: Thanks for offering to steal what little money I do have...nice :)
You know me Newcomer. Always thinking of other people.

Oooh. Must get New York magazine after the gym. Thank mom for me.
Wow, sorry to hear about the parental troubles of so many good people on this thread. I've been really fortunate that my parents have always been wonderful and supportive of me.

She is all about public appearances -- in public

Faile, thanks for the link! Great interview. I really like the pictures, too; the colours are so bright and catching. (And from what I can see, the new Dodgers Stages looks to be a very hip and sleek place.)
Noticed this quote in particular:
On the message boards, I read things like, "I don't understand Ivy; she's just there to break the two boys up!"
Hmmm, could she be talking about us?
aww how sad. what a sad convo. Everyone here is so fun and so nice! I just wish everything would be easy and okay. Sorry to hear it guys, but you know we are all here like a family and whenever you need someone, we are here.
But on a happier note, that interview is great! And the pictures are awesome! And also new real world tonight!! AHH! lol. off topic but loooove it.
I got my friend meghan to love bare last night too. I love spreading the wealth. And I wore my bare button to rehearsal last night and I got so many people to ask, whats bare? And so the fan database is spreading more and more.

I wonder?? We do focus on the gay boys a lot on this thread. I can't really identify with Ivy, but Ivy has a storyline too. At the end she is a pregnant teenager!! That is huge. She may be a 'slut' and a bitca, but is she really. Part of the whole show is about not really being seen by the people around them. This is brought up at the end of the Audtions as well as the Confession. People know Ivy by her rep, they never get to know the the 'real' her.
I particularly like her song 'You touch my soul' and 'All Grown Up'. In one she has hope that maybe Jason will be the one who sees the real her. In the other, she realizes her actions have consequences, huge consequences...when she cries out 'am I supposed to love this child.' I can't remember the exact language, but it really is touching and true. I had classmates who had kids in high school, middle school even (yes I come from a hick town). A really close friend in college made a tough decision to have an abortion. I am greatful I never had to make that choice. For Ivy, as a Catholic, abortion is less likely, but you know it will cross her mind.
Sorry for the rant. Just avoiding class. But I have thought about what Ivy has gone through and while I haven't seen the show, I have read from people who say her character is not very sympathetic. I have a feeling I will find her sympathetic to some extent.
Back to class...
i totally agree with that. I really do like her songs and I know i brought this up a while back, how we particularly focus on the boys and not jenna or ivy but then again her lack of a y chromosone kind of throws most of us off! haha.

posting is my favorite way to avoid class as well. and I must say I do it a lot.
Faile, you bring up very good points! Very interesting to think about...I do feel for Ivy at times. And about "breaking the boys up" how could she be doing that? She doesn't realize they're together, so TECHNICALLY, it's Jason's fault, not hers.
But John is just too hot for anyone to get mad at Jason for doing this, right MoG? :-P

Don't feel bad EyEs....I did it, too for a while! And I'm sure we're not the only ones on this board!
And also new real world tonight!! AHH! lol. off topic but loooove it.
Tape will be set....YAY Philly!!!!
The link to that interview was muchly appreciated. Loved the article. It's nice to see this big wave of passion surrounding the show -- and I like that the actors are participating in the atmosphere. The brilliant stroke was giving out the CDs so that people can take the music home -- or so that others out in the hinterlands can get a taste of it.
Again, I've not seen the NY production so I'm really psyched to see how it's evolved since L.A.
BTW, one of the cast of the Fringe show I was helping out with was an 18 year old actor who came out during the run of the show. He called his evangelical minister mom and just basically told her how it was. (Gently, at my urging).
What a cutie he was! He literally showed up at the Chicago auditions with his high school yearbook photo. Had never been in a show. Never took any lessons. He was incredible.
But good luck, those of you going through it. If anyone is looking for more resources on coming out or developing peer groups on the net, there's a link below to Youth Guardian Services.

Eric Anthony. Yes he was. There are several pictures of him on that page. What a dancer!! And a really sweet, very shy guy offstage. He had all the girls screaming.
