Speaking of feeling special, FB, I did what you asked me to. I put in a good word for ya with my acquaintance.
Yes, so you can write that check for an infinite amount of money to Brunettebabe or you can start being my slave...now.
And now, off to work, ick.

Well, I'm back from China!
I was at an international forum for student leaders. It was one of the most amazing experiences in my life! It was five days in Hong Kong and five days in Beijing, all expenses paid. It was a free vacation disguised as a conference!
Hong Kong is one of the best shopping cities in the world. Besides the fact that there are no taxes and prices are a lot cheaper for electronics and fashion, it's also incredibly fun! The busiest centre in HK is a district called Mong Kok (which I kept pronouncing Man Kok, heheheh), where there are shops on top of shops on top of shops, and more people than I've ever seen! The entire city is the epitome of East Meets West, being very cosmopolitan, and with a super-fantastic nightlife. We partied in a district called Lang Foo Tzang, which is full of Western-style pubs and clubs. All the ex-patriates in the city hang out there. All this in hot and humid weather - it was like a second summer! :)
Beijing was also a blast, but for completely different reasons. It was a much bigger culture shock there ("what? I have to SQUAT?"), but no less thrilling. The opening ceremonies for the forum was in the Great Hall of the People, which is like the White House of China; the public usually isn't allowed to go inside, so that was a very special experience. We also got to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at the Great Wall, which was absolutely riveting and awe-inspiring. A visit to the Forbidden City was incredible; if the Great Wall is China's greatest architectural achievement, then the Forbidden City has got to be its second. It's hugely expansive and gasp-inducing.
To top it off, we were special guests at China's National Day celebrations in Tienanmen Square (which was rather haunting), and the celebrations turned out to be a huge party in the middle of the city, with singing and dancing and cultural performances involving thousands of people. Wow!
Now it's a bit surreal to be back in a classroom, catching up on two weeks' of missed work!
I missed my Bare family! I was listening to BARE on the plane, actually. So what has happened since I was gone? I haven't really been keeping up with the news - other than that gorgeous black & white picture of Michael Arden I've seen here and there. The thread has grown so unbelievably long since I left, it's impossible to go back and read it. I've heard rumours that BARE is postponed again; is it true?

Blue - I almost gasped out loud when I saw that you had posted, soooo glad that you are back and had a great time!!!! We have all missed you too much!! I have always wanted to go to Hong Kong I think it would be such an amazing experience!!!

Yes, unfortunatley this is as true as can be, most of what you have missed is probably us crying about this, but we are all keeping hopes high!

It's good to be back! (But I miss the tropical weather of HK.
)
I'm reading up on the situation with BARE. This IS really sad. What really irks me is that our beloved cast and crew are once again left without work. You can only survive so many months without getting a decent paycheque. It really worries me. My heart goes out to them, and I hope they're ok. When Bare eventually opens (and I have every belief it will), I'm definitely coming to New York City to support them!
On another note, I'm scanning some past pages of the thread, and....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRISKY! I got you a hug! *hugs*
And (reading between the lines) Happy Belated Birthday to Michael Arden! Here's a toast that 22 will be the best year ever for you!

Welcome back BlueWizard! You sound like you had a fantastic time during your trip. I'm just sorry you had to come home to the depressing news about Bare.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. You'll be happy to know my b-day pic with Michael includes me wearing an argyle sweater. Hee!

Double post! Because I care.
I'm flipping through past pages: 13, I read "Six Characters" for class, it's my friend's favourite play, and my college's drama society put it on last year. I'm not a big fan (I find these metatheatrical plays really trying), but what do you need to know?
Did Michael celebrate his birthday on Chatterbox? Now that's commitment! I would have just gone out and gotten drunk.

LOL, as 2day4u mentioned, it was the day before. He and I are a day apart (well, a day and 6 years!) so we both got the opportunity to imbibe on the day of!
You'll have to buy the Chatterbox video when it comes out, you won't regret it!
BTW, just to catch you up some more, Michael also did a solo show at Feinstein's on Monday and he was fantastic. This would also be the night 2day4u got to meet him!
