Star: She SOOO spit on me. I cried, a dream come true.
Oh, aspiringguy, don't you know Idina spits on everyone?
I actually didn't like the staging to One. Or maybe because I was into the show, that it was a nightmare to see Jason betray Peter like that! But the final tableau wasn't particularly interesting.
But one thing I loved was how at the very end of Act I Act I and Peter/Michael is standing stage-centre, he looks up and bends back, holding his final note. This is exactly how the Act II ends too, with Michael throwing his graduation hat back. Nice symmetry there.
where is Peter? If they're doin the nasty in Ivy's dorm, where is Nadia? Matt?
I think they are in Peter/Jason's dorm! Peter left for spring break, Ivy leaves her room because of Nadias ode to Spring and the way i take it she goes to apologize to Jason, If i remember correctly she says something about "leaving tonight" and Jason says he is too so thats how they are alone! and Trisky is right about where they are standing i wonder if they are supposed to be in there own rooms, and who is Peter calling his mom or Jason?
This thread is getting too hot to handle
The staging for "One" sounds great. I can't wait to see the other elements. I feel like they can do a ton with lighting, or at least in my mind the lighting is big. Jason and Ivy on a desk? HOT! Hetero sex never sounded so hot. Anywho...Blue, the symmetry thing sounds amazing. There are so many elements I cannot wait to see.
I think he's calling his mother, after all he and Jason just got finished breaking up.
What's interesting is looking at the "walls" of the dorm room. There are huge basketball posters and nearly a full wall of blank CD's pasted together. For some reason I don't picture either of those things being Peter's choice!
who is Peter calling his mom or Jason?
Jason. Peter just left with his mom for Spring Break, and he's calling Jason to....say sorry? To say "I love you"? To just hear Jason's voice?
It's unclear, though, where Peter is, exactly, when he's making the phonecall. The passage of realtime would suggest he should be in the car with Claire (while Jason and Ivy are doin' the nasty). But since he's on the spiral staircase when making the call, I'm assuming he's at home? Maybe he lives really close to the school.
he and Jason just got finished breaking up.
Ummmmm, did I miss something in Ever After??
I think he's calling his mother, after all he and Jason just got finished breaking up.
But don't forget that Claire picked Peter up from his room, before the two of them left for Spring Break (Peter/Michael does the CUTEST thing before he leaves the dorm room - he does a small, shy, smiling-but-vulnerable goodbye wave to Jason). I think he's calling Jason - making his phone call even more tragic, since Jason isn't answering the phone because he's doing it with Ivy.
hmmm i think i always thought that the blank wall was Peters because after the fight (ever After) he moves out, they refer to him living with zack? or lucas? at the begining of act two so i thought he took his stuff with him before spring break????????
The sad thing is we are all gonna be soooooo confused after all the changes hopefully there arent alot, if i hear another version of anything i just may crack!!!!!!haha i luv it really

Hmmm... now I'm going to have try and interpret that scene with this in mind. I always assumed he was calling his mother and was just, maybe outside of the dorm waiting for her to pick him up or something. I guess I couldn't picture him making that desparate a plea to Jason after Jason's behavior towards him.
Ummmmm, did I miss something in Ever After??
Jason shoves Peter twice in Ever After and basically tells him it's over.
But don't forget that Claire picked Peter up from his room, before the two of them left for Spring Break (Peter/Michael does the CUTEST thing before he leaves the dorm room - he does a small, shy, smiling-but-vulnerable goodbye wave to Jason).
When does this happen? Doesn't it go from Ever After, into Spring and then into One?
if i hear another version of anything i just may crack!!!!!!
In a year or less, I seriously picture us listening to the ATA version and going 'OMG, I'm so glad they changed that lyric!' :-P
Hmmmm....I'll have to listen to it again!

as much as i hate to admit it mee too
I always thought the phone call was Peter calling Jason in desperation, trying one last time to work things out. It always struck me harder because Peter calls and Jason doesn't answer because he is having sex with Ivy. I can't say anything about location.

Oh, I can totally see Peter having a wall full of cds next to Jason's basketball posters!
And I always assumed Peter was calling his mom too because of the whole "I'm all alone line" which he reiterates in "See Me". I thought they were both pleas to his mom.

It happens during Spring. After Nadia sings, "Spring can lick me", there's some action on stage right as Nadia continues her ode: Claire comes into Peter's room, Peter hugs Claire, they nod and mouthe some words to each other, Claire and Peter leave and Peter gives a little wave to Jason.
I think Peter's "Are you THERE...please pick up the phone" is a lyrical reprise of "Are You There", which is partly directed at Jason (and partly directed at God).
WOW...I had never thought about action that like, isn't heard, but gives away plot? If that makes sense....Is it October yet?

You know I barely (no pun intended) even remember this happening! I think I was paying too much attention to Nadia, because Natalie was only a few feet from me. Now I see why it would make more sense that he was calling Jason.
Oh god, you're right, it does sting a 1,000 times more that Jason couldn't pick up the phone because he was preoccupied with Ivy. The more I think about it, the more this is coming back to me now.
There is quite a lot of "silent" action, or important stage business, that occurs in BARE. Particularly surrounding Claire! In "No Voice," at the end of Peter's solo goodbye to Jason, Claire arrives (to Peter's surprise) and gives him a big hug. It's one of the most emotional moments in the show, but it can't be "heard" on the recording. It's extremely cathartic. (And, from what I've heard, Claire's arrival was only added during the NY previews.)
Trisky,
Check your PM's...
I did not realize that Claire picked Peter up, now it makes perfect sense, I think he is moving out of the dorm which explains the phone call to Jason if he is regreting being so harsh in the fight.

Oh gosh....I feel a tear coming on

I was already crying by that point but that just made me lose it completely. And seeing Michaal's face during that part....unbelievably moving I tell ya!
OMG, I'm scared y'all....I'm seriously getting choked up just thinking about it!
I know 2day, that moment is amazing. It really brings Peter's character arc to a good close: he is accepted by his mother, who helps him mourn.
I think it was added because people had expressed (and still express) concern over the ending, that there wasn't an uplifting note to end the show on. Well, I found that Claire's embrace of her gay son as he goes up to graduate was the perfect thing to close the show with.
Oh gosh, me too 2day4u. This is just so powerful, and imagining it is enough to get me all sad. Seeing it must be some emotional experience. Once again, I'm gonna be the biggest crying mess in October. Updated On: 8/30/04 at 11:35 PM

What kills me about this part, just totally kills me is the look on Peter's face right before he turns around. He has such hope and amazement on his face, convincing himself however briefly that somehow it's Jason who's tapping him on the shoulder and he kind of mouths the word Jason to himself. *snarfle* It makes me tear up just thinking about it.
Oh my gosh, that's like...I'm gonna go cry now. This show...wow.
