On the thread about TLM's closing, I tried posting things but it didn't work. I don't know why. Since that thread has issues, I figured it would be appropriate to start a new one.
I'm going to start with saying that I think it's a great way to make money during the holiday season. I'm all for it.
This February, NETworks is producing a tour of this show as a part of their 2009-2010 season. From an E-Mail, NETworks told me that the tour is going to be a never before seen production with a brand new lighting design, brand new set, ect...
NETworks rarely ever mounts their own original productions. As a matter of fact, every NETworks production that I can think of has been a tour of a former production. (The Wizard of Oz tour is a tour of the RSC production, The Sweeney Todd Tour was a tour of the Doyle Revival, ect...). Is there a chance that disney is mounting a never-before-seen production of BATB this holiday season and NETworks is going to use the same lighting design, staging, sets, props ect...
Yeah, in order to see all the posts on the other thread, you have to click "print view", which is really inconvenient.
But a newish BatB could be a fairly entertaining show, although I'm not sure where exactly they would stick the Christmas-y stuff. Maybe replacing Human Again or combining it with Human Again in some way? That to me seems to be the right section in terms of the book to do something, but having even more numbers there might be a little much (since Something There pretty much leads right into Human Again). Or maybe they'll change the end of Act I or beginning of Act II?
Jazz, didn't you already say NETworks e-mailed you saying it was some british production, or am I making this up?

singtopher, no... but you might be referring to the thread where I said that I wanted the NETworks tour to be a recreation of the International tour. I posted several pictures of it as well. On that same thread, a lot of people said that it might be a recreation of the UK tour.

Gotcha.
Would be very welcome
I'm all for BatB Holiday return -- I think the story is "enchanting" enough to not have to include Christmas into it...just leave it the way it is. It'd be interesting to see if they will be different and just as elaborate .. or different as in scaled down!

I really hope they don't add any Christmas songs in, just leave it how it is. Although, can anyone else totally see them doing something with Lumiere and a menorah?

I actually LIKE the idea of a Christmas song. Just like anything in the world, If yo can make it work... do it.
Beauty and the Beast has at least Two christmas related sequels, one of which is a movie, while the other was a TV special, i think. Each of them had original songs.

I could see them adding "As Long As There's Christmas" from BATB: The Enchanted Christmas; that was my first thought when I heard of the holiday addition.
I don't think that there needs to be anything holiday related in Beauty and The Beast should it play a holiday run on Broadway. Just because something is playing a holiday run doesn't mean it has to be holiday themed.
I think that Beauty and The Beast is well known name and that alone would want to get parents to take their kids to see the show considering that as of right now it is no longer on Broadway.
I mean the only thing that I can see being holiday/winter themed is Something There. After all, in the movie there were shots of them outside in the snow during that song/scene.
Yea, but all the people who have already seen BatB during it's original run would have no reason to go back for the holiday run UNLESS it had "BRAND NEW HOLIDAY MUSIC!" therefore creating a viable holiday market for return visitors.
Yeah, I'm open for a new holiday song. Maybe even have snow fall on the audience at the end, I don't care. As long as they don't stray far from the actual plot or anything.

My understanding from those that are involved in the planning is it'll be the original piece with a Christmas scene/song added. I think they were referring to the one in one of those sequel films, though, not positive.
Again, this may not happen as I said in the Mermaid posting I made what with the economy and all, but they've been discussing this for a while and are already approaching some of their main players from the run to do a "seasonal offering."
Anything to boost interest in Broadway during the holidays seems beneficial to me, that's when many people see their first shows, and start getting interested.
I have seen it and I would go back in a heartbeat to see it again, new song or not.
Seen it have a t-shirt, saw it with Jackman, what more could you ask for?
Could we expect a new, more complete, cast recording or would they just be all about making money and not spending it? I wish they would have recorded the Overture at some point. Even if it was only on one of the foreign recordings. It would have been nice.

I wish there was a professional recording of "A Change In Me" with the new ending! It became my favorite song but the only recorded version is by Susan Egan and it is with the old ending on her Solo CD.
^^Didn't they also have a version of "A Change in Me" on the Disney's On the Record cast recording? Not sure which ending it had though...
I do love Susan Egan's version, though. Beauty and the Beast was my very first Broadway show in early 1995 and I'm there to revisit it if it has a holiday engagement.

If you ARE getting the version of BATB thats touring the UK, or ones thats based on it, be in for a dissapointment, its vastly scaled down and on the cheap.

Is there any credible source to a possible BATB Holiday engagement or is this just something that people would like to see?

Princeton2,
It's not going to be the UK tour. (Thank god).
Didn't they also have a version of "A Change in Me" on the Disney's On the Record cast recording? Not sure which ending it had though...
Ashley Brown did record "A Change in Me" for On the Record and it does have the belted ending, in fact I'm pretty sure that version was born out of the arrangements for On the Record. I still like Susan's though because I can just throw it in with the OBC on my ipod. Plus, Anneliese van der Pole was the only Belle to sing the alternate version on Broadway. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think up until then they used the original version.
