Chicago Tribune is mixed: "lively, weaponized, often confusing and richly caustic." He adds that McTeer's Bernhardt is so strong that it doesn't make the establishment around her seem like a threat at all.

This seems like an interesting play, but even at the Roundabout, this seems like a tough sell. It lloks like a “for theater people only” type of show. Last week’s grosses were pretty low, but the NYT review might help.

I was there tonight - my first Broadway opening - and thought McTeer was electric if a little bit all over the place. I thought the play needs work. It’s too long and too wordy. It makes fun of Hamlet for being never ending but this felt the same. Good direction - I thought it would have ended with a full fleshed out Hamlet scene but instead we get Cyrano which McTeer/Bernhardt isn’t in? And then ends with a video clip. But gorgeous design.
