BEST performances by performers at the Tonys!

This does NOT include lip-synced performances (i.e. Angela Lansbury - Gypsy).

I choose Hunter Foster's performance of "Run Freedom Run" from URINETOWN, and the same year, Sutton Foster's performance of "Forget About the Boy" from THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE.

Bro & Sis should have BOTH won Tonys that year.

Bernadette Peters' ROSES TURN may have been the best performance at the Tonys ever. She was large and looming like the monster Mama Rose is while also managing to be delicate and fragile. She brought so much depth into her three minute song that it's literally unfathomable. And she got a standing O. To get a standing O for a performance at the Tony awards is quite astonishing. She totally and undeniably deserved it. She was phenomenally engrossing.

my favorite is dorothy loudon from the 1984 tony awards performing broadway baby. it was fantastic. so lively, so much fun.

Jennifer Holliday and the cast of Dreamgirls performing "It's all over" and "and i am telling you i'm not going" duh! amazing! and recently i saw the 1995 tonys and watched Matthew broderick and Lillias White KICK BUTT in BROTHERHOOD OF MAN!! OMG LILLIAS WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!

I second the Bernedette Rose's Turn. It was thrilling.

seeing Kelli and Vicki in the Piazza "skit" made me REALLY want to see the show. by the way, has anyone ever noticed how gorgeous Kelli is on camera?? wow..

Anyone interested should rent or buy Broadway's Lost Treasures. There are 3 installments. I think Debbie Allen in WSS was phenomenal. So many good ones, though.

I like Norbert's preformance too. I also liked the Spelling Bee this year, how they used Al Sharpton, that was hysterical.

Garland Grrrl --- Orbach's performance was special, but unfortunately so was his key. And it wasn't the same as the orchestra's. I can't watch it anymore for that reason, charming as he is.
