Dislike!
Eh - this show didn't do a thing for me. Once was enough.
I'm sorry to hear this news.
So....they're not going to make the changes after all?
soooo maybe EVITA can take the Imperial now and FOLLIES can stay at the Marquis?? Maybe?? Hopefully??
Also, this could be a great home for EVITA.
I loathed the music so I don't think I'm missing out by not seeing it...
George and Martha. Sad sad sad.
They loved this show.
Jordan, they did make the changes. Most of them were implemented when the new cast members went in a few weeks ago.
Oh, damn. I didn't think it was happening for a while yet. I won tickets at the Flea market for next week and was hoping to see it before they ruined it.
Sad to hear this news. I wasn't into the score until I saw the show and then fell in love with the whole package. I thought it worked beautifully and Solidarity is one of my favorite production numbers of the past 15 years.

"Also, this could be a great home for EVITA."
Isn't "Evita" suppose to play at the Marquis after "Follies"? I actually think the Imperial Theatre would be a great home to the revival of "Funny Girl".

FOLLIES isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Always sad to see an established show go, even if this wasn't my favorite.

Well, last I heard "Follies" extended its run till January 22, 2012.

But I guess if "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" was able to extend beyond Daniel Radcliffe's contract and if "Anything Goes" can extend its run as well I guess "Follies" can too.

Enjoyed it BUT not Tony worthy. In my book, atleast.
WOW! Was this totally out of left field?
It was not. The grosses have been down quite a bit since the beginning of the year. When they didn't improve over the summer, it was clear they probably wouldn't make it beyond January.
What were the changes that they made to the show?
They made it more family friendly and easier for idiot tourists who can't survive for longer than two hours without stuffing fried foods in their face to understand.
They cleaned up the language, Disneyfied it a little.
Billy doesn't want to be a ballet dancer anymore because that's too gay. He wants to get involved in MMA (which, is even gayer, but don't tell them that)
