With the names involved, you'd think it would have recouped sooner...they made it just in time!

I haven't seen this production of the show...why did it cost $3mill?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Her salary can't be THAT much...(can it?)

Angela Lansbury is the reason this show is what it is. She was the reason i went to go see it and I'm sure it was the reason a lot of people went to see it. Also the other stars are fairly big names. And the creative parts of the show a very impressive in my opinion. I was very impressed by the set and lights and costumes.

She's also the best part of the show.

Rupert Everett, Jayne Atkinson, Christine Ebersole, and Angela Lansbury certainly aren't working for scale!

Congratulations to everyone involved. This show was fantastic and absolutely deserves to go in the record books as a hit.

Seeing the final performance on Sunday and I know it is going to be special.

I am glad it recouped. I should try to go see it this weekend if I can.

I had stopped posting a while back, because of so many other things, but when I saw this thread, I just thought it would be the perfectly appropriate place to share my news. I saw Blithe Spirit! I had so much been hoping I would be able to get away and make the trip to NY. I flew out the morning of Saturday, June 27th, and spent the day seeing sites. The night of the 27th, I had dinner at Angus McIndoe and saw the eight PM showing! I thought the Shubert Theatre was beautiful on the inside, with all of its velvety seats and dim lighting. Smaller than I had thought it would be, but very classy. My first time in a Broadway theatre. I feel so naïve! I sat up in the mezzanine, second row, in the center, and the view of the stage was absolutely perfect. I was closer to the stage than I had thought I would be. I thoroughly loved the show, and it felt so surreal knowing I was right there with Angela. She was beautiful, and her costumes (especially in her first scene) were lovely and looked so much more brilliant and sparkly in real life, in person. To say the least, I couldn?t believe I was really there! I am just so glad I made the trip to the city. I loved NY, and after spending all day and night of the 27th and leaving the next afternoon, I felt like I had been there for a whole week! I hated to have to leave. Blithe Spirit was spectacular and classy and very glamorous, the other actors and actresses were just as amazing to me, and I was so impressed with the set. It was beautiful. I just want to wish Angela and the rest of the cast a very fulfilling final week of performance. Hard to believe it is nearly over. But all I can say is that I feel very fortunate that I was able to go and see her. I know many people have been able to see the show several times, being they have the advantage of living in NY, but for me just seeing it once was what made it so special. I would never again be able to recreate the feeling I had seeing Angela onstage for the very first time in my life. She was absolutely wonderful, and so was the show.
