A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I am not shocked at all, really (but pleased nonetheless). Good for them! The Ahmanson needed something to fill the slot and this seemed like the most likely candidate. I don't know how it helps the Tony chances, but the more exposure the show gets, the better. Updated On: 12/6/11 at 12:33 PM
It's a beautiful production, I imagine the cast transferring is pretty much a given? The cast recording is so spectacular I wish I could watch the production every day.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Looks like it will be ending right before the Tonys. Maybe they did this to keep the show in people's minds and to possibly keep the cast intact and free from other ventures for a number in the Tonys telecast?
Ahmanson wasn't the original producer of Bring It On. It was first presented by Alliance Theater. Ahmanson is just the first stop in the tour. Besides, have you seen it? It's actually a good show. Anyway, bring on Follies!
Reality check. Its not going to transfer back to Broadway. If it becomes the beginning of a national tour, it could 'possibly' help the show's Tony chances as, in years past, a lot of the Best Revival winners have been awarded to musicals with announced plans to tour.
Very very happy that I'll get to see this production in LA again. Last time was at the old Shubert Theatre in Century City when I was very young and fell in love with the show. Hoping that most of the Broadway cast will reprise their roles! Most of all I really want to see Elaine Paige who I've always wanted to see on stage missing her performance as Grizabella in Cats when she departed the production just three days earlier than when I saw it in London.
Thanks to Rob et al. for the word. I realize that most of the time we're just chatting here, but getting this info early may mean the difference between our getting tickets or not getting them. So thank you, thank you, thank you.
I called the Ahmanson ticket services today and here is what one of the service representatives told me: Regarding getting tickets for Follies only those subscribers to the Ahmanson season series will automatically get tickets. If you have a Design Your Own Subscription such as the 4 plays that I purchased you will NOT get Follies as an automatic replacement for Funny Girl. When tickets go on sale which won't be announced for awhile I have to call and then add it into my Design My Own Subscription. I'll be watching daily for news so that I don't miss out on seeing this show.
