I wish they recorded the show for release while it was on Broadway. Miss it so much and this concert is EVERYTHING!

I'm glad I was able to catch the livestream. I went late in previews and wanted to go back because of a bad audience experience but it didn't work out. I do think taking out a lot of the dialogue (and jokes) affected the experience but this also just confirmed to me that the show closed for a reason. The people asking questions during the Q&A were a little deluded.

just finished watching, so fantastic. Carmen is sensational. very much enjoyed Hannah Elless and Paul Nolan as well! i love the score and hope Martin & Brickell give musical theater another shot.

Sorry that you didn't like it, but I think "deluded" is a strong word there. I loved Bright Star - it reminded me of home. You didn't like it, and that's okay. Not everybody is going to like every musical. There is a Tony-nominated musical from the last few years running that I can NOT stand because I think it is sophomoric and predicable, but I don't think people are "deluded" for liking it. I just understand that they see something that I don't, not that they see something that is not there.

Biggest takeaway for me after watching that was - "I forgot how deliciously hot Paul Alexander Nolan was!" lol

I'm sorry if you were offended. I specifically meant comments (paraphrasing, of course) that the show was rejected because Broadway doesn't like country music or lauding the amazing character development. I enjoyed the show. It wasn't great but it was fun. I'm not upset with anyone for liking it, I'm just skeptical of praise without criticism or casting blame where it doesn't belong. I love Doctor Zhivago but I love it knowing what's wrong with it.

I have hardly been in New York and have been out of the loop, but it just so happens I'm here on a work trip this week and found out a few weeks ago in time to get my ticket. This show was very special to me. I know it has its flaws, but it brought me such joy. I could have seen it over and over and over again. I was so upset it didn't find its audience. The concert last night was a wonderful evening. It reminded me how much I love the show and the cast. I didn't love the way they trimmed the dialogue and wish they would've either done more of it or none. And I missed the staging so much--I hadn't realized how much that really made the show for me. But seeing them sing live made me remember it fondly and hearing the score live again was wonderful. Especially Carmen. She is so incredible. And yes, Paul Alexander Nolan is sooooo yummy. I may have to go see Chicago....

I have such a fondness for the show so I hope the tour actually happens. Of course it would be so incredible if Carmen joined it, but I hope for her sake (and the sake of theater in general) she has so much in store for her she won't have time. I have to be honest that I have a hard time imagining it with anyone else though! But I do imagine it could do great in some regional theaters in Nashville or other places with such tremendous bluegrass/country talent.

Sad in the sense that I won't get to see him perform.

Good in the sense that I don't have to feel obligated to actually see Chicago again.
