I heard the show was...not good. Hopefully they are working on it!
I'm just excited that the Longacre will have a tenant before year's end!

Personally I loved it.
Not very excited at all. Saw it at the Papermill and did not think it was even good regional theatre much less Broadway. hopefully they will continue to work on it to strengthen the weak parts before it opens. It has potential but needs much work.
Not excited... at all... would love to be pleasantly surprised though lol
Hopefully there will have been some rewrites since paper mill. Would love to see it last but if no edits had been made, not likely.
Though I hope they prove me wrong, I don't see this being a commercial hit.
Don't get why they are rushing this in. At least its in a smaller theatre

Saw this at Papermill and it needs a lot of work. I hope they've done it, but I have my doubts. If not, I see this going the way of Honeymoon In Vegas.
And, what's with Papermill thinking that every show they do must move to Broadway? Their quality is, often, not Broadway caliber.
Darren Criss may star, I hear.

So I guess Nick Cordero will not be jumping ship from his IMIHO thankless role in WAITRESS to go back to the Bronx? A pity.

Can someone explain to me what a Longrace is? And why is there a tail there?

Darren is doing the Hedwig tour in October/November. Sure, he could drop that to do this if he wanted, we will see I suppose.

The Longacre seats 1091. Smaller than what?

hmm, the Gershwin, the Broadway, Hirschfeld, to start with.

The same people who came in droves to see Jersey Boys will see this pap.
Well, frankly, I hope those droves come early. Because I don't predict this being a show that stays around too long.
Jersey Boys uses a popular lexicon of songs and tells a story of one of the most well known groups in United States history.
This ain't Frankie Valli.
It'll prove to be a tough tell, unless they can get a star name like Darren Criss. But isn't he tied up with Hedwig?
I'm curious as to why it would be a tough sell? It got pretty good reviews and positive audience reception at Paper Mill and according to a few articles I read, it apparently broke box office records there. It's an incredibly recognizable commodity with both De Niro and Palminterri closely attached to it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the one man show with Palminterri starring a success when it was on Broadway back in 2007? What about it makes everyone think the musical will be a tough sell?

Hmm pretty much every theatre that typically houses musicals but okay

Celebrity creatives do not sell tickets. The source material is redundant and predictable. There is nothing compelling or original about the score. And reviews were mixed at Paper Mill.
Exactly. No one cares if DeNiro directed this because he's not actually in it. As proven by Bright Star, celebrity creatives don't make a show a hit.
People already know the story, and have probably seen the one man show, so why go see a musical version where they've just plugged in a few songs here and there? Not saying it'll flop hard, but I just think they'll need to get some momentum going. But I love a Menken score, even if he did give us that Esparaza show that was awful.
Has Nerds - The Musical posted closing notices?

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or just plain clueless, but I chuckled either way
