Oh my god!
If the opening sequence is anything like the rest of the movie, this is going to be incredible! So creepy, but really effective.

Holy crap, I love it! The overture is a perfect blend of Sondheim and that signature sound we expect from a Burton film.

Posted: 12/12/07 at 12:33amAt this rate, I'll have seen the whole film in three minute clips by the time it premieres. Not that I'm really complaining. That was amazing. I can't wait to see it on the big screen.

Resist the temptation to watch this!!
It is one of the best parts of the movie, you are definitely spoiling a great treat by experiencing it for the first time on a computer screen! :)

This video needs to come with a warning! Not necessarily "spoilers" but oh-gawd the will-power it takes (of which I'm currently lacking) to NOT click!
How freaking AWESOME! I mean, step back and ask yourself how AWESOME it is to be hearing Sondheim's MUSIC and Tunick's ORCHESTRATION on a HOLLYWOOD screen!
I mean really, step back and think of it. Think of all the millions of ears those musical notes are falling on and how many millions of hairs are standing on-end in theatres across America... and SO MANY people hearing it all for the first time!
I'm taking my entire family as a Christmas gift :)

Posted: 12/12/07 at 12:53amReally amazing stuff. It brought the lyrics of the Ballad to life - "freely flows the blood of those who moralize". Fantastic.

Posted: 12/12/07 at 12:56amthe blood looks fake - in a bad way! Other than that, it's great. love the music and the concept...

Ooo I freaking love it! After the opening credits finished I was expecting it to go into the film, but then realized it was just a clip
only a few more weeks!
It gave me chills.

Posted: 12/12/07 at 1:05amI'm weird but I didn't like it. I mean, I think it was well done for what it was, but I felt like I was watching "Chuckie" being remade in one of those horror movie sequels that what I imagined Sweeney's titles would be...I guess I imagined more roving over London, meeting all those nameless characters in their depravity.

Posted: 12/12/07 at 1:05amAll the blood in the movie looks fake. In a good way. It's called art direction. There is a conversation going on about this on talkinbroadway.com. For some reason word has gotten out that this is a naturalistic slasher movie like Friday the 13th. Maybe that's what the studio wants to appeal to young men, but the blood is not at all realistic. It's spectacular though.

I thought it was perfect!
I think this credits sequence is OBVIOUSLY supposed to be animated. So yeah, the blood looks fake.
OH MY GOD, I AM SO EXCITED.

Posted: 12/12/07 at 1:09ammichael bennet - no **** sherlock, I know what art direction is. But i thought the blood looks cheap and not well done. I KNOW it's supposed to look fake, but it looked like a video game - is that what they were after? I don't think so, but even if they were, I still thought it looked bad.

The blood reminded me of the black crap from Spiderman 3. Nevertheless, I can't friggin' wait.

I have vowed not to watch this....I want to be surpised when i see the film in a cinema, this releasing of whole songs, the opening and a few other scenes is getting out of hand.

Posted: 12/12/07 at 1:20amrosscoe(au)... I'm beginning to get overly anxious now too. Might have to start putting my foot down. It's only 9 days away. I think I'm going to go cold-turkey until movie-time.

Posted: 12/12/07 at 1:24ammichael bennet - i'm not going to be dissapointed in the film (i think)....just maybe in the blood:) I'm all for stylized movies (LOVED SIN CITY) but it just didn't look well done to me...just my two cents.

Posted: 12/12/07 at 1:25amYou have to see it on the big screen. Like I said, I think people are largely spoiled (in a bad way) by watching so much of the movie on small screen computer moniters.
