BWay on BWay on TV

MELANIE IS GOD AWFUL! Does she act that way in the show, or was she just having an off day?
If Lincoln were alive today, do you think he'd be pleased with his tunnel?

Wow, but Louise and the cast from Mamma Mia! just rocked my world. It was such a mistake not to record the original bway cast!

Yes, Melanie is really that god awful. Blech. Anyway, I'm a little ticked they didn't show the whole number.... and marginally ticked that they kept cheating Rox out of the shots (really, who CARES about Melanie?), but she got a really nice shot introducing the number. Woo Yeah for my girl!

Watching it now & the numbers are chopped up. Glad I did not waste time taping it. I was staying in the city this weekend. Glad I did not waste my time watching it in person. At least next year, we will not have to waste time next year watching it.

They're idiotic I tell you, they cut Sutton short! I can't believe people were saying that she didn't give her performance anything, sure it wasn't what you normally see in the theatre, but my God she gave it a hell of a lot and was far better than the other performances that were shown so far.

re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: BWay on BWay on TV

They ALWAYS cut the numbers. In recent years, the first two of three were full numbers and the rest were highlights. Damn them for cutting them all. They picked up Unusual Way after my favorite part. A family emergency prohibited my being there this year, so I was happy to get to see it on TV, but pissed that they're such morons about what they show.

Wait...they're actually cutting numbers as in...they're performing and then right in the middle they go to commercial?

~MlleDaae *Please tell me how much it sucks so that I feel a little better and can start yelling mean things to my tv pretending it's NBC...*

I know they always cut numbers, but why did they show all of Catherine Brunell performing Forget About the Boy last year, then cut Sutton short? I hope they show a lot of Suddenly Seymour and The Wizard and I. And GOD am I sick of this Producers song, do they EVER perform a different song on TV?

re: re: BWay on BWay on TV

They cut We Both Reached for the Gun?? I was hoping they wouldn't, since it was the opening number and all...did any number get shown in its entirety?? I haven't watched it yet. I'm going to be provoked when I do, though, I have a feeling. (Please, someone tell me they left in Brent hitting that note!)

They've only cut it like this for the past two years, when it has been on NBC in the evening. I think they pretty much showed all the numbers uncut in 2000 and 2001, but it aired live, I think. (Though I do remember they cut away from Raul Esparza and Lea DeLaria singing Time Warp in 2000 to go to a commercial...very poor timing, IMHO!)

The point, BroadwayGirl, is they're cutting EVERYONE short this year. They don't care WHO you are or from what show, they edited all the numbers down. Nobody's performance is getting the whole number shown.

NBC -- they didn't cut the note, thank god.. or I was gonna have to go to the studio and kick some ass. They started it out with Rox saying "Mr Billy Flynn and the press conference rag -- notice how his mouth never moves. Almost" and then went right to "how ya feeling?!" and I was all like "whaaaaaaa?"
