Have a good day!!
I think the only one they messed up is featured actress in a play-Judith Light will take it. She's swept the awards leading up to the Tonys (I know Hanks hasn't won anything, but I think the situation with his show is a bit different). I think they nailed the others (although featured actor in a play could go to any of the nominees, really).
I think that Tracy Letts (should win for sure IMO) and Laura Osnes are both 50-50 to surprise and grab the Tonys in their respective categories. As the political pundits would say, both races are too close to call.
Where is Nate Silver when we need him?
I wouldn't rule out a Shalita Grant upset yet. She's in the funniest new play of the season, it's one of the few awards voters could justify giving to Vanya since Nielsen is probably a lost cause at this point (
), and Judith DID win last year, which might make some voters more likely to vote elsewhere.
As much as I didn't like The Nance or Lucky Guy, I have to say I'm surprised that people think Tom Hanks is a lock for a Tony. Nathan's part was so much more and he did a great job with it. Just because it's Tom Hanks (who I thought was very good), I can't believe the voters will diss one of their own over a film star who decides to come to Broadway because he can't get any more films. Of course, there's always some underlining resentment to Nathan from the Producers days.
because he can't get any more films
HAHAHAHAHAHA. I legit laughed out loud at this. You surely jest.
I laughed at that Hanks crack also.
I think Billy Porter is gaining a lot of momentum and he is actually a Lead.
Agreed, the 2 TONY voters I talked to told me Porter has their vote and that was the consensus they got from others.
I hope voters aren't discounting Bertie's performance because of stage time. His performance in Matilda is tremendous.
What about the rest of the predictions? Best Musical, etc?
