Yes, that rumor that she "recorded the score" is so dumb. It's like someone just said it out of wishful thinking and it became true. And, how ridiclous would it look, her lip synching to tracks that were recorded 30 years ago?
That version of At the Ballet is simply atrocious. The reworked dialogue is painful. Barbra's voice, no longer like butter, sounds guttural at this point.
And, I'm sorry, but Daisy Ridley seems to have no grasp of what the song is about.
Terrible, terrible.

I would have loved for Barbra and Bette to record Anything You Can Do.

Many of these movie stars (Patrick Wilson, Hugh Jackman, Antonio Banderas) are or were (the late Anthony Newley) also Broadway stars.
And no Michael Urie duet? What gives?!?
Michael Urie isn't exactly a Broadway or movie star, though a duet would have been fun. Maybe "On the Street Where you Live..." would have been appropriate :)
At the Ballet is the funniest thing I've heard all day.
Is that really Barbra on the cover or her wax figure from Madame Tussaud's?

While this version is super campy "Dug earring out of the CAAAHHHHHH" I do think the vocals are lovely. Obviously Barbra is not what she used to be but I think she sounds pretty good for her age and the career she's had. I'm rooting for her Gypsy.
Target exclusive has 4 more songs - Not A Day Goes By, Losing My Mind, Fifty Percent and I Didn't Know What Time It Was. I don't these are duets
I think 50 Percent is perfect for her in her old age
Agreed, I'm more excited about the 4 bonus tracks than I am about the songs on the main disc and the bizarre singing partners. Bette Midler and Neil Diamond (Jazz Singer) should've been on the recording - not Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Melissa McCarthy - serious what was this chick thinking??
My, she does Yentl-ize the end of "Ballet," no? But it's fun in a kitsch way, though with all the breathy acting, it certainly huffs and puffs, like vintage radio. I wish her Sheila didn't segue into that great lady accent Laurents infamously criticized her for in "Way We Were." Couldn't Sheila be from Brooklyn? I never heard Deborah Kerr playing Sheila, but hey, it might've worked, with Marni Nixon doing the heavy lifting of course.
The dialogue is pure camp heaven, but I think the track itself sounds good. I suppose we can't begrudge Barbra for stealing the number - it's her record - and that's what the ladies at Target have paid for. She probably should have taken Bebe's lines instead of Sheila's but maybe that was too close for home for her.

Did anyone purchase the Target CD? I have the regular CD but would love to hear the following exclusive songs.
5.I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TIME IT WAS – Barbra (Target Exclusive)
7.NOT A DAY GOES BY – Barbra (Target Exclusive)
9.FIFTY PERCENT – Barbra (Target Exclusive)
11.LOSING MY MIND – Barbra (Target Exclusive)
The four extras are better than anything on the regular release. Congrats to Babs for going #1. Not bad for a 74 year old singing Broadway songs. There is a solo version of Loving You floating around. I posted the link for it in another post.
I'm so proud of her for extending her record of the female with the most number one albums in history (11) as well as the only person with number one albums in each of the last 6 decades!
