It wasn't as if that song is difficult to sing...
She sounded fine.
I thought the entire ending was sloppy, though.

Posted: 2/14/11 at 11:56amI thought she sounded better than she has in recent years. She wasn't hoarse which has plagued her since her last concert tour. I think she looked great if you don't count that hideous dress she wore. She looked much better at the Music Cares event on Friday night.

Posted: 2/14/11 at 12:26pmI'll be in the minority, but I thought she looked and sounded awful. If you got past the awful hair and dress, her face looked OK. But the dress was a mistake, and the hair is way too young for her. It came across as trying to look younger than you are, which typically only serves to make you look older. And I thought her voice was all over the place.

"It came across as trying to look younger than you are,"
Which she will be trying to do when she films GYPSY...

Posted: 2/14/11 at 12:37pmTo me, that dress came across as an effort to hide her weight gain in recent years.

broadwaybabytn-That was my first thought when I saw her last night, too.
Overall, I wasn't overly impressed with the performance, either.

Posted: 2/14/11 at 12:46pmwhy the barbra hatred? she's a fuggin god!! anyway, the woman has had a career for the past fifty years, and of course as she's getting up there she doesnt have the voice she did when she was 22. what do you people expect? She's 68 years old. And she sounded really lovely.

Guettboy, I agree. She did sound lovely. The Barbra hatred on this board is quite remarkable. She is almost 70 years old and she isn't going to have the pipes that she had at 20, 30 or 40.
Criticize Garland on this board for having the same issues (weight, looks, vocal quality) and you will be considered the devil himself.
Perhaps if Streisand were an alcoholic or addicted to medication, she'd get some sympathy on this board.

Whoever thinks Barbra was trying to hide her figure is mistaken. Take the time to look at pictures of her from the past year, since 2005 she has lost a lot of weight and looks wonderful.
To say that she has gained weight recently is completely wrong. Check your facts.

Posted: 2/14/11 at 2:19pmNicholas, I agree. If you'd all look at the coverage of Friday night's Music Cares tribute, she looked slim in a beautiful black gown. The one she wore at the Grammy's did nothing to showcase her nice figure.

I apologie. Mainly because of the dress, I (wrongly) assumed Ms. Streisand had gained some weight. Photos like the one I link to also helped this assumption.

Any guesses as to how many "nip and tucks" she sports?

The worst performance I have ever seen Streisand give in public.
She seemed tentative, even at the end of the song when the audience applauded politely. I now understand why she wants to control everything -- last night she clearly did not have control.
For the record, I first saw Streisand in "I Can Get It For You Wholesale" on Broadway

You know, I LOVE Barbra. Always have always will. And I don't think she was lip synching, but what was up with the bit towards the end?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWHgJz9P1nU
Right around the 4:04-4:06 mark, she pulls the microphone away from her face, and you can hear her voice fade out, but there is a backup vocal that is still going strong. Does she use a backup track of her own voice? Is it througout the song, or only in certain spots? Inquiring minds want to know!
Also, what happened to her nails (This pic isn't from the Grammys)?

Posted: 2/16/11 at 2:10pmThought she was great. That is unusual right at the end where the voice stays as the mic is pulled away though.....

As someone pointed out she isn't in her 20's, 30's 40's or even 50's anymore so the pipes won't be as they used to be (she didn't hold that loooong note she normally does with Evergreen at the end) but she is still doing fine by me.
Thought her hair appalling the night before at the Music Cares show. It looked like she just got out of the shower.
