Since the advance word is not good, has any one heard what the BB are thinking or saying about this train wreck?
I don't recall reading anything about their opinions. Were they involved in the process? Sounds like they just signed the contract and said "Oh well. Where's my check?"

I saw the press preview......
The show looked beyond pathetic. The singing sounded cruise ship/amature and the dancing looked inspired by a seizure. All Shook Up and now this!!??? What is happening to Broadway? OY

Remember when Michael Jackson bought the publishing rights to the Beatles catalogue and sold "Revolution" to a Nike commercial? The surviving Beatles and Yoko didn't like it, but there was nothing they could do about it.

I saw the first Wednesday matinee and it was beyond awful. I was tempted to leave at intermission, but for some reason, I stayed. I got the tickets on the Duffy Square line for half price, and they were in the center orch, fourth row. Chad Kimbell and Jessica Wilson, both usually good, are terrible, as is the rest of the cast. The book is a joke. I wouldn't be surprised if this show doesn't make it to the Feb. 2 opening.
Justin Guarini was smart to drop out.

Newyorkuniq - Awwww, be kind. Don't knock Cruise Ship singers so fast. I understand there is a stigma against cruise ship singers but... I worked on ships for a few years (not as a singer or dancer) and some of them were amazing! One of my good friends who I met on a ship is now singing back up for Elton John and he is incredible! I admit the shows themselves are a bit cheesy but that's not their fault. They do the best they can with it.

Yes, the songs are good. It is the Beach Boys, but the book is so bad. As Riedel said on Wednesday, it is sloppy and makes no sense. By far the worst show on B'Way currently.
If you were planning on seeing "Good Vibrations", see one of these instead: "Little Women", "Wonderful Town" (closes next Sunday, so be quick!), "La Cage", "Democracy" or "Dame Edna".

Posted: 1/22/05 at 5:02pmOf course the book is awful! The idea of taking a handful of songs with absolutely no relation among them and FORCING a storyline between them is preposterous. I can't believe people are STILL doing this, and that these shows are actually MAKING IT to Broadway. I love Jessica-Snow Wilson and congrats to her on getting another role on Broadway, but GOOD VIBRATIONS needs to close ASAP. Make room for decent shows, perhaps THE COLOR PURPLE, for instance??

Posted: 1/22/05 at 6:50pmBrian Wilson is a genius, but he is also deeply damaged, psychologially. He manages to function under heavy medication and careful handling. If this show is as bad as people say, he should be protected from the trauma of seing it!

I know someone else owned the rights to i *think* "springtime for hitler" and they had to fight to get that song in the show for some big bucks.. for the producers. When Love,Janis was done , they could not get "cry baby" for the show because someone else held the rights.

Good grief, Mr. Tuttle, "Kokomo" is a minor entry in the Beach Boys canon, no matter how you look at it.
Brian Wilson is the only person that should have a pressing interest in seeing his work presented well, as he is directly responsible for the creation of most of it. Yes, he's been through the wringer, but he was a genius in his prime.

Of course Stephen King liked Brian De Palma's film version of CARRIE. Nearly everyone loves Brian De Palma's film version of CARRIE. It's brilliant. Did you mean to say that King liked the musical version of CARRIE (which De Palma had no involvement with)?

Saw it last night. Wasnt that bad as people had said, but i guess it depends on the type of person you are. All in all, it was a fun night out and i caught a beach ball at the end! :)
