I love her, but she must have sounded awful. Sandy should always be a soprano. She is like a mezzo or an alto, her voice is also very nasal, I think.
Is she still in Hairspray I wonder?

Eris, Barry Williams *was* Danny! Donna Pescow was Rizzo. Kasem played Vince Fontaine.

Since when?!!! We're not talking Bizet's Carmen here we're talking about GREASE...and I don't think Broadway's original Sandy was a soprano either.

Yes, you have a point. I guess all the Sandys I saw were sopranos though, such as Olivia Newton John, Susan Woods(in the revival with Brooke Shields and Rosie) and Marisol Otero.
Let me rephrase it, "I enjoy this score sung by a soprano", I was just listening to Belinda's "I Get Weak" funny enough.

Barry Williams is four years Belinda Carlisle's senior. FWIW Olivia-Newton John is 6 years older than John Travolta and of course a lot of the cast in the movie were not of HS age let alone looked it.

Not only was alive and OLD enough....I would have already been OUT of high school for two years! But I am an East Coaster and wouldn't have seen this.

Even without looking it up, I would have guessed that Williams and Carlisle were similar in age. SO my generation.
