Let me see if I'm following this right: Ben Platt, like a billion people before him, is trying to grab the lucrative pop star career coming off a Tony winning, nationally recognized performance. It looks like it isnt working. And this is an example of... privilege? His struggle to create a pop career?
Then we have the suggestion that by doing so, hes "abandoning" Broadway, when hes still singing Broadway showtunes, and is about to start rehearsals for an Encores off-Bway run of Parade (hardly something he's doing to sustain his pop music career, and hardly something he'd be doing for the paycheck)? I genuinely dont get how many of you function in a world that requires reason, logic, etc."
Haha, right! Some of these takes are just insane, and I’m not even a Ben fan!

He made the Garden feel like an intimate space and he was just so joyful. It was such a great experience between his music and Aly &AJ performing. And I love the song they sang together!"
So much joy from that stage and we all had a great time. Amazing to see his progression."
Totally agree. From a fan from his Pitch Perfect days, it's amazing to see how he has grown! Also not selling the whole arena...so? It made for a more intimate experience.

There's also no accounting for the amount of tickets that did sell. Even if they overshot on venue size, filling half or two thirds of MSG (or that amount of whatever arena in whatever city) is a feat. He could have moved the same amount of tickets and sold out Radio City, which would have felt impressive. People just want a reason to hate him.
Saw him at MSG and all I can say is .... PHENOMENAL!!! I don't give a fat damn who his father is or how much money his family has. It, no doubt, afforded him some opportunities and got his foot in some doors but his extraordinary talent is undeniable. And if people are too petty and jealous to realize it, well too bad for them. I've been to more concerts and theater performances than I can count on 50 hands, but this performance was next-level! If you miss it, you're missing something very special. Truly, a thrilling, emotionally moving, and memorable night! And, yes, I met him afterward at the meet and greet and he was as humble and sweet as can be! I am in awe of his talent... and I'm thrilled I had the opportunity to tell him so!
I went to MSG and thought Ben was amazing as well.

I'm not sure what the capacity for this specific concert was, however approximately 8k people attended the concert at MSG (according to the staff clipboard left on the floor next to me during the concert). I think radio city would have been perfect if we assume there were comps mixed in. I went to the concert and loved him but damn was that 300-400 section empty, and a lot of the 100s appeared to have one full row, one empty. so many people upgraded to floor at least!
