Bernadette Peters as Dolly Levi?

I would LOVE to see Peters tackle the role. I think she'd be perfect. Anyone else agree or disagree?

PS: When are they going to revive DOLLY? We've seen two revivals of GYPSY in the last 7 years but DOLLY hasn't been on Broadway in what seems like forever!

Personally I can't stand anything she's in, since she can't sing, but I would go see any production of Dolly on Broadway I think.

The last time I saw a professional production was with Lainie Kazan, she was great.

Eh, I don't really see it. Love her, but I don't see it.

I wish, wish, wish I could have seen the recent Leslie Uggams production. I heard it was marvelous.

It is one of those shows that should be revived every ten years or so...it's just so happy, so giddy, so infectuously upbeat...

It is one of those rare shows that mostly pleases both regular theater-goers and tourists alike. Almost every time it's mounted.

I would pay big bucks to see that, also to see Queen Latifah tackle it, that and Mame. I think she'd be great in both.

It would be like a supernova of my two great loves. I would kill to see her sing "So Long Dearie" on the Tonys.

She'd be fantastic but I believe she has been offered the role before and she has turned it down.

I personality would love to see this. I was watching the "Sunday" dvd last week and was saying to my dad that she could be a wonderful Dolly. She would nail the comedy.... I can totally see it.

I've always enjoyed Bernadette Peters. It would be great to see her as Dolly. I never got a chance to see here in Gypsy.

Can't see her as Dolly, but she would make a great Irene Malloy. I'd really like to hear her do Ribbons Down My Back

I really think that Carol Channing will achieve supernatural being to come back and tackle Dolly for eternity. I don't think anyone will touch it, Carol (or her ghost) won't let them.

Someone else needs to tackle this part. It could become the next Mama Rose, each new revival an event to see a great actress tackle the role.

BkCollector, are you serious? It's fine if you aren't a fan of her voice, but it's ridiculous to say she can't sing.

She did one of those touring revivals in 1992/1993. Rob Evan played Cornelius.
