Okay, I'll agree on the nominations:
Donna Murphy
Kristin Chenoweth
Idina Menzel
Stephanie D'Abruzzo
Tonya Pinkins
And as for the winner...I was deeply unimpressed by Wicked, so unless Caroline, or Change is much better than it's purported to be, I'm going to say Donna Murphy. Though I kind of wish it could be Stephanie D'Abruzzo. That wishy-washy enough for you? :)
Edit: Okay, I changed my mind. If Hugh Jackman can win in BFO, than Tonya Pinkins can win in Caroline. She's my new pick.

It will create quite a controversy if Peters get a nomination this year, WestEndBird. Gypsy was from last year.

A show can only be nominated once right?? Even if there is a replacement like a year later who is awesome?? I just never knew how that worked......

WestEndBird--- Bernadette was nominated last year so she won't be again. And replacements cannot be nominated so that leaves out your Chicago gal.

Alas, the Tony Nominating Committee has yet to even acknowledge that amazing replacements exist. Nor awesome ones.

Idina Menzel
Kristen Chenoweth
Donna Murphey
Stephanie D'Abruzzo
I am really rooting for Idina on this (If she doesnt recieve a Tony Award for this role, I dont know what she can win for), but I think her and Kristen will cancel each other out. Past winner Tonya Pinkins, who I will see in May in Caroline, or Change, will take the win. Either Tonya or Idina- I know you said not to be split but its hard. Stephanie, even though she is incredible- god anyone who can do that with puppets is ultra-talented, she is still a fresh face and her roles dont match those of Elphaba or Caroline. Donna Murphey is amazing as well, but shes got 2 in the bag and this role isnt something she originated and its not as deep and moving as the other women nominated. Kristen will get outweighed by Idina I think and the fact that she already has a Tony on her shelf. We'll see. June 6th isnt that far away! So who's having a Tony party?

most likely:
Idina Menzel-winner
Kristin Chenoweth
Donna Murphy
Stephanie D'Abruzzo
Tonya Pinkins
In a perfect world Kerry Butler would also get a nomination. I thought she was great but I have no say in if she gets nominated or not, obviously.

Why do we keep doing these threads? Idina will win. It's not that I'm a HUGE fan of hers or anything like that, although I do enjoy listening to her voice, I just don't think the Tony committee has seen anything quite like her performance in some time, perhaps ever. No one has belted that high off the ground before. She deserves it. Especially for having to wear all that make up. w(ICK)ed...

I agree with the consensus for the list of nominees:
Tonya Pinkins
Idina Menzel
Kristen Chenoweth
Donna Murphey
Stephanie D'Abruzzo
If I could vote, I'd go for STEPHANIE D'ABRUZZO. Second choice, I'd pick KRISTIN CHENOWETH, she nailed every joke, and sang gloriously. My last choice of the five would be IDINA MENZEL. She most certainly deserves the nomination, but she's not a great actress. Lots of people like her singing voice -- but she yells a little too much for me.
As much as I love DONNA MURPHY, I really didn't think much of "Wonderful Town". She definitely deserved her past two Tonys.
Now, that's MY opinion. Who do I think the voters will choose? MENZEL or PINKINS.

This is a big year of competition for women. Its not that predictable. Last year, it was either Marissa or Bernadette, but this year it is like a 5 way tie. I also, if it was a perfect world, would throw Kerry Butler into the nominees, but she had a lot of mixed reviews on her performance as Audrey, so odds are slim.

What about Best Supporting Actress- I dont hear much about this one-
Carole Shelley- WICKED
Jennifer Westfeldt- WONDERFUL TOWN
Isabel Keating- THE BOY FROM OZ
Stephanie J. Block- THE BOY FROM OZ
I havent seen Caroline, or Change yet but may be some one from this show or Bombay Dreams or even Fiddler. The only two shows I will not get to see before the awards will be Fiddler and Boy from Oz, but I love my cast recording from "Oz" and I love the two supporting ladies. They def. deserve a Tony nod, if not one of them the win. Any one from the closed shows Taboo or Never Gonna Dance? I keep forgetting about them...

Hmm...I think Isabel Keating has an excellent chance at a nomination, but Stephanie J. Block's reviews were mixed at best. I feel kind of bad because her part was by far the worst-written in the show, and she does everything she can with it, including a knockout performance of She Loves to Hear the Music.
However, I think Block's chances for a Tony nomination are quite low. I have no clue about the parts in Bombay Dreams, Caroline, or Change, or Assassins, so I can't speak there. I'm not sure if I'm remembering right, but I think Liz McCartney of Taboo got good reviews. And I wouldn't rule out Ann Harada, who by all accounts is great in Avenue Q.

I'm rooting for Idina- I think she really deserves the award. She works her ass off doing Elphaba 8 times a week, and she's very consistent with her performance. I really hope Kristen and Idina don't cancel each other out, either. I think one of them most definitely deserves it; although I have my fingers crossed for Idina.

Best Actress-
same as everyone else-- Idina wins.
I think we've played this game to death *laughs*
Best Supporting Actress
I wish that Stephanie J. Block's part had been written better for BFO b/c she's -incredible-. Unfortunately, she probably won't be recieving a nomination for bad writing. Her big number is incredible... I'm hoping she'll replace Idina when she leaves Wicked (Stephanie was Elphaba stand-by in San Francisco actually, went on for 1 performance- when I talked to her, she said that she is dying to play Elphaba, again).
Others:
Carole Shelley
Becky Ann Baker
Isabel Keating-winner
Ann Harada
Jennifer Westfeldt
also, Laura Michelle Kelly could get a surprise nomination for Hodel. I hear she's doing a nice job in the role.
Always,
Abby

what a topic...i wish we knew the answer NOW!
My choices:
Donna Murphy for Leading Actress. solidified because the Idina and Kristen noms should cancel each other out.
Supporting Actress:
it's between Ann Harada and Becky Ann Baker. both are fantastic!
but i give the edge to Miss Harada.
