I found home. You're my home...stay with me... -Beauty and the Beast. Simple, sweet, and heartbreaking.
It is time for us all to decide who we are... - Les Miserables. That one line really states what the show is all about.

Opera is when a guy gets stabbed in the back and, instead of bleeding, he sings.

Why did I listen to that crook?
A little bribing cash is all it really took.
That's how that craven toilet maven made me cave in.
I'm a shnook.
Why did I listen to that crook?
And there are so many other great lyrics from URINETOWN also...

"See the moon slink down in the sky, darling
Let your fantasies fly, darling
Life is cold, and the game is old
Just see how virtue repays you
You turn and someone betrays you
Betray him first
And the game's reversed!"
and pretty much the rest of The Riddle from the Scarlet Pimpernel, but these lines just plain ROCK!!!

Blame it on me
Blame it on your daddily and mammily,
Because depression runs in our family.
That makes me laugh every time, even though it's an emotional song.

Of course there are tons. I can't pick less than five. (All five are from my top five favorite lyricists).
Fred Ebb: "Cheif Cook and Bottle Washer" from The Rink
Sondheim: Mama said "Darling, mustn't be blue."
"It's not only do what you like as it is that you like
what you do."
(Or if we're looking for an entire song, "I'm Still
Here")
Hammerstein: "Soliloquy" (Can't get much better)
Ashman: "Proud of Your Boy"
Yeston: "Simple" (Just simplistic, beautiful and touching. It's hard to pick something by Mr. Yeston and my opinion will probably change tomorrow, but I think that might be his best.)
Again, it's so hard to pick one. I had to pick five. (and one actual line from a song) Of course, there are dozens of other great ones.
