I saw that there was a thread about Best Featured Actress in a Musical, so I thought this could be a good place to discuss thoughts regarding Best Featured Actor.
So, discuss away!
I really hope Feliciano (sp) will win for his chilling performance in Sweeney but I somehow think that a win for him is doubtful. Which is sad...

I'm rooting for Manoel Felciano also. Why do you think a win is doubtful? Who is his competition?

Manoel Felciano, Sweeney Todd
Eddie Korbich, Drowsy Chaperone
Michael McKean (though, he is billed above title), Pajama Game
Jim Dale, Threepenny Opera
Someone from Jersey Boys???

I can't really say why because I'm not sure why myself. It just seems to me that if he wanted a prayer of winning, the show should have opened right before this season's Tony deadline so that his performance would be remembered by critics. It seems that not only has the show been open for a while but his performance was overshadowed by LuPone and Cerveris. In fact, overshadowed is an understatement. It is sad too and I hope he wins but his performance has been long forgotten by the critics IMO. As a matter of fact, I really feel that the only two people who will even get nominated from Sweeney's cast will be Cerveris and LuPone. If Felciano gets a nod it will be a feat and if he wins, it will be an even great accomplishment. Don't get me wrong, I hope he does win but I doubt he will.
Is this another category where more than one of the Sweeney actors will be up against one another for the nomination? Manoel Felciano seems to have the best shot, but in my opinion every perfornance in that show was noteworthy.
I'll be very upset if Manoel Felciano doesn't win.
I really want Manoel Felciano to win, but I agree about the over shadowing by co-stars. I also want John Doyle to win
Chester Gregory for Tarzan
Manoel Felciano for Sweeney Todd
Shuler Hensley for Tarzan
Michael McKeon for Pajama Game
I disagree, I think Manoel's been getting a lot of attention lately because of Sweeney.

I agree with that to some extent, WiCkEDrOcKS. It will be unfortunate if he doesn't get nominated because the cast of Sweeney is too good. I personally did not feel that his performace was overshadowed by Patti and Michael or that it was forgettable. Maybe it's a long shot, but I really hope he wins.
I don't think Manoel is a long shot at all - as of right now, I would say he's a lock. He has virtually no competition at this point. While I haven't see Michael McKean, I can't imagine his performance will equal or even top Manoel's, but that's not the performer's fault, it's just the limitations of McKean's material.
At this point in the season, the only other person worth nominating is Christian Hoff from JERSEY BOYS. There are certainly no memorable or worthy male supporting roles in THE COLOR PURPLE.
Jim Dale, making his return to Broadway in just under ten years, might end up being a favorite though. We'll see.
I think Manoel Felciano is definitely a strong contender for the win at this point. I hope that Christian Hoff is nominated as well - I thought his performance in Jersey Boys was outstanding, but he might get overlooked in favor of one of his castmates.

Christian Hoff looks like a shoe-in for a nom right now. Perhaps Daniel Reichard could even slip into the mix.
Michael McKean is pretty horrible in THE PAJAMA GAME. I'd be surprised if he were nominated. At this point it seems to be Felciano's award to lose, but I have a feeling Dale is going to be brilliant in THREEPENNY, so it's hardly an open-and-shut case.

I'd love to see Chad Kimball or Will Chase nominated for Lennon.
I think Manoel has a good chance at winning. They really beefed up his role from the original production and he is fantastic in it. It is far from a lock, but he will deff. get a nomination and I dont see any reason why he can't win. I say Sweeney is going to sweep alot of the categories.
I think Adam Brazier was the best featured actor of this last season.
I think both Jersey Boys' Christian Hoff & Daniel Reichard are strong contenders for the Best Featured Actor nominations, as well as Manoel Felciano for Sweeney Todd & Michael McKeon for Pajama Game.

YUCK.
even if you hated the musical, im sure you can tell he was extraordinary.
I thought he was fine. I remember almost nothing about his performance - everything about the show was forgettable in every way.
