I like Pig & Whistle. It's just one block east on 48th.

I tried Bucatini last weekend for the first time over on 45th and 5th. It was very good. Service was attentive. Food was excellent.

I was sad to see Hourglass Tavern and Bettibar close back in 2020. I am going to be in town in a few weeks and am looking forward to my gyro sandwich at Turco. Looks like their prices went up a few bucks since I left in 2023.

I miss them, too. Bettibar was a perfect place for a pre-or post-show drink and bite.
I recently went to Lady Blue, a few doors down from the old Hourglass, for cocktails and thought it was a great little place with great ambience.

Just checked out their website. I may have to stop in, if I can, while there week after next. Might be a good place to meet a friend for drinks. Thanks for posting that.

AperiBar in the Luma Hotel just off Bryant Park is a great little upscale Italian place hidden at the back of the lobby. They have smaller plates, so you're not stuffed before a show -- and the prices acknowledge it. Charlie Palmer is the mind behind it. We've dined there several times and always been happy.

We booked a res at Arriba Arriba during our November visit.

WHAT! Seriously? Were you a very large party? The policy was always no reservations, so I had refrained from taking folks there if we needed to really plan out an evening. But if they have changed that, or at least take reservationsover a certain number, that is wonderful to know! More enchilada suizas for me!
"
I’m there right now. I asked a waiter. Response: “We don’t take reservations.”

My budget sadly hasn’t allowed for a NYC trip this year (the first time since 2010 I have made it), but I love Butter Midtown and Chez Josephine.
