Daphne's top, 'nuff said.
That I've seen - Karmine. I've only seen her and Krystal, but she's my favorite of them.

Karmine
I've heard Caren is awesome too.
I've heard Caren is awesome too.
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps...
What did she realize, Kitten?
That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs.
What's wrong with that?
Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had...
Where?
On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

Did anyone here see Marcy Harriell as Mimi? Her bio in Lennon says she was the first replacement in the Broadway company, and I was just curious because I thought she was phenomenal in Lennon.

Marcy Harriell is AMAZING, at least on the video I saw...Why did I have no idea she will be in LENNON?? I am FLIPPING OUT!!
My other fav is Karmine, she is fierce and wonderful.
And Daphne in the bottom three?? No way, the woman IS Mimi, she created the role.
I've never seen a bad Mimi, but, I remember not being impressed with Laura Dias/Maya Days....

Ahhh the Daphne question...apparently she wasn't even asked, because she gave birth in January and maybe she just wanted to spend time with her husband and child. Some think she looks too old to pass for Mimi, but I say that's poppycock! In short, it's anyones guess.
In the mean time I am still in love with Marcy. LOOK how Beautiful! I am so getting my hair cut just like hers ,land I am ordering Lennon tickets right now! I'm not obsessed or anything...

caren lyn manuel.
The theatre is one of the most expressive and useful instruments for the edification of a country; it is also the barometer which makes its greatness or its descent. A theatre which is sensitive and well oriented in all its branches from tragedy to vaudeville can in a few years change the sensibilty of the people; theatre which has been destroyed, in which cloven hooves take the place of wings, can put to sleep an entire nation. A people that does not aid and encourage its theatre is moribund if not dead; the theatre which does not gather to itself the best of society, of history, the drama of its people and the genuine color of its landscape and its spirit, with laughter or tears, does not deserve to call itself theatre, but rather a place for that horrible thing which is called killing time.- Federico Garcia Lorca

and are you judging daph based on a bootleg or the cast cd? Cause those of us who were lucky enough to see the OBC several times KNOW no one can EVER compare to THEM.. as a whole but, the replacement cast barring sherie came JUST as close to being as amazing. Daph,Yassmin and Marcy = 3 best

OK, I don't care for Daphne's voice - but the women was great in the role.

I can't put to words how perfect Daphne was in the role. I did, however, enjoy Karmine Alers almost just as much.

What makes you think that people have three whom they 'absolutely hate'? Anyway, these are the ones I've SEEN and my order of preference.
Saskia Garel, Marcy Harriell, Genny Padilla, Karmine, Krysten Cummings, Sharon Leal, Yas, Saycon, Dominique, Daphne, Karen Olivo, Loraine Velez, Maya Days, Julia Santana, Jaime L. Kirchner, Antonique Smith, Krystal Washington.

Its a toss up:

I've seen most Mimi's, since Daphne.
How anyone can include Daphne in the WORST MIMI's list is beyond my realm of comprehension.
I'm not just saying this because she's the original cast - because many members of the OBC have been surpassed by excellence by their replacements, but Daphne is not one. She is the ultimate Mimi, and she's absolutely incredible in the role.
My other favorite Mimi's are:
Yasmine Alers
Karmine Alers
Caren Lynn Manuel
Lorraine Velez
Krystal Washington (I think that's her name)
Out of those, Caren is the BEST, second to Daphne.

Caren Lyn Manuel, without a doubt.
Marcy would be right under her, and then probably Karmine, and Yas!

I never had the privelege of seeing Daphne live in the show, only from the cast recording (which I know doesn't even begin to do justice to the OBC) and thru boots. I'm sure she was amazing.
For the Mimi's I have seen, I'd say Julia Santana was my absolute favorite. Her Mimi was FIERCE.

I haven't heard all the Mimis but from those I have heard, my vote goes to Daphne and Karmine. Daphne's voice was just so unique and perfect for the role and she found a great balance between being sexy and feirce and vulnerable. And Karmine's Mimi (from what I've heard in clips, never seen her live) was really feirce and strong as others have said.
