Does anyone know where I could find clips of Saycon as Mimi? I'd love to hear some.
Thanks!
I wanted to get something that an "ex"-junkie like him would really appreciate and cherish....it's a brick of heroin shaped like a heart.

Okay, I have to say, even though I bashed her in the Aida thread, and i'm sticking to those opinions (which, btw, I got some hate mail over. A passioned plea...quite amusing. It brought a single, dry, cracked tear to my eye) Maya Days was the BEST Mimi I have ever seen. Physically, vocally...she was all the way there. Every moment was fresh and inspiring. Her Out Tonight was balls to the wall, and full out fantastic.

Best Mimi I've seen was SIMONE (daughter of Nina Simone). I thought she created a fuller character than Daphne, altho I would not put Daphne is the WORST list.

I think Krystal Washington deserves more props. She's very talented.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Daphne
Marcy
Lorraine
wow...i was just thinking that in about 20 years or so when RENT has long closed that people who've never seen the show will only identify Rosario with this role.

Marcy, hands down. She was my first Mimi and and I saw her play the role about 8 or 9 times out of the 12 or so times I saw the show in NYC. Her "Out Tonight" was electrifying.

Had the pleasure of seeing Karmine recently. Blew the other three away. Of course blowing away Scary Spice was easily done.

Loved Daphne Rubin Vega. She was amazing in the role. I also enjoyed the Australian Mimi, Christine Anu.

I love Simone to death!
A little off-topic, but I am PISSED that I wasn't able to see Karmine. When I went to the theatre for the first time getting tickets for the first time to see the show for the first time in July, I was SOOO excited to see Karmine, but when I saw the Playbill, there was a slip in it that said:
RENT INVITES BACK KRYSTAL L. WASHINGTON
I WAS SOOO PISSED! Krystal sucked during Out Tonight. She was really stiff and flat. Her voice was weird. I still don't know why she was in it for that one night, but I wish I saw Karmine.

"I still don't know why she was in it for that one night, but I wish I saw Karmine."
Karmine took about a week vacation this summer so they brought Krystal to fill in for a week.
And i have only seen Caren, Karmine, and Krystal live and I loved them all in different ways.

Bump because I have a question.
I've only ever seen one Mimi live, and she was the one on the national tour circa fall/winter 2003. Does anyone know who it was? I thought that she was amazing, but admittedly have no live standard of comparison.
