Best place to see Billy Elliot from?

Hello,

What would you say is the best place in the theater to see Billy Elliot from? Left/Right Orchestra (around Row J) or first row Mezz?

Thanks!

LOL, yep I agree. Don't bother wasting your money on this overblown uninspired tourist trap. A night at home with the movie is so much more worth the money. The movie has more heart than the stage version could ever hope to live up to. Just a cavalcade of one dimensional stereotypical performaces that equate it to Mary Poppins. Not to mention the worst score of the season. You'll be moved by the movie, you'll be left cold by this ridiculous stage adaptation.

There really isn't a bad seat in the house. Front Mezz are excellent and you can see the lighting on the stage during Dream Ballet from there. I prefer Orchestra right as a lot happens on the left hand side of the stage and it is easier to pick out their facial expressions from the right. i.e. The Letter.

Go and see the show - I'm sure you will love it. Unfortunately, as in all things in life, you cannot please all of the people all of the time - as the posts above prove.

When I saw the musical, I sat house R row H and it was a great view. Don't listen to the BE haters the show is wonderful!

I love the movie it is one of my favorites!

So between Front Mezz Center Row A and Side Orchestra Row J - what would you choose?

re: Best place to see Billy Elliot from?

I always prefer center to the sides...however...it depends on HOW far to the side. If it's closer to the aisle (low number) than I'd take the orchestra..otherwise I'd take front row Mezz.

And yes, I feel its getting WAY more attention (Tony-wise) than it deserves, but it an enjoyable show. The choreography is amzing but the story/book is overly manipulative and the score is forgettable.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Front row mezz is perfection. (I don't know who the dead heads are at the top of this thread but you should just ignore them. The show is absolutely fabulous.)

re: Best place to see Billy Elliot from?

My one piece of advice would be to not sit in the rear mezzanine because the show was staged toward the orchestra...I never felt like the actors were playing to us up in the mid/rear mezzanine (I blame the director and choreographer)... Really it felt more like I was observing than being involved. It was the only thing I didn't like about the show.

But please don't get me wrong! Besides that being my only gripe, I really enjoyed myself. While the show is VERY different from the film, I think it's very good, and well worth your time and money.

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

I saw the show House right row J seat 9 and absolutely loved the seat. I had previously seem it from House left rows M and N and much preferred J. It made a big difference.

From somewhere where they dont end their sentences with a preposition.

(sorry, couldn't resist)

I've been wanting to say that all day but I've been fighting the temptation. Thanks for scratching the itch!

re: Best place to see Billy Elliot from?

If you are seeing it for the first time, choose first row center mezzanine (versus left/right orchestra).

Otherwise, in general I prefer right orchestra/mezzanine so that I am facing Billy during The Letter scene.

Enjoy!

Nice kitty, claws in please. Just because some people cannot stand to let a simple question go by without a snide remark, cannot stand it when someone has a different opinion than them, cannot allow a positive comment to go unattacked, cannot get past petty jealousy over a great show's outstanding success...
