I am coming to New York in June with my dad and we both want to see Newsies. He uses a walker, so we probably need to get orchestra seats unless there is an elevator. If we get seats on the left or right orchestra, will we miss anything? Is this a production that is better if you sit further back than in the first 3-5 rows? Any comments would be appreciated.

First off, there is no elevator, so the orchestra is your best bet.
From what I've heard, the closer you can be the better. If you sit too far under the mezz overhang, you'll miss some of the action that takes place on the top levels of the tower units.

First few rows of the mezzanine... go to playbill.com, register for free and you can get discounted tickets for 89.00
^But if you read the post his father has a walker and that will be very difficult (if not impossible) depending on your father's condition because there are stairs up to the mezzanine and there is no elevator. Orchestra is really your only option. As long as you're not in the last few rows of the orchestra your view will be fine.
In the orchestra, I would say rows J to M in the center are ideal. Avoid the far sides unless you can get them at a discount.
I would go premium then...because ive seen it 3times and most of the orchestra is obstructed, and since there is no elevator so youcant sit in the mezz which is where the vest seats are...i sat first row front mezz and felt closer than i ever did in the orchestra
^What? I've seen the show twice, both times in the orchestra and never was obstructed? Were you very far to one side? I was side orchestra both times maybe 10 rows back (I can't really remember) and they were definitely full view.
row M right side center aisle...i was under the overhang both times

Front row. Makes it easier to play the "who forgot to wear a dance belt" game. Or to just stare are all of the boys packages in general.
Bdn - Ah, that makes sense. I just checked and I can't remember but I must've been around row H or J. Definitely made a big difference.
Bwaydevil - were your seats premium?
Also notice how the cheapest seats for Newsies are in the orchestra...or at most there is like a $5 difference between the last row of the mezz and or orchestra..

Makes me wonder if our seats will be obstructed.... Right orchestra row J seats 14 - 18. $89 discount

I sat in the front row of the center mezz for Newsies, and while I generally had a great view, there were multiple times where I had to lean forward to see over the hulking sound/light equipment that was attached to the mezzanine overhang. I missed some center downstage moments. I'm 6' tall so it wasn't that I'm too short to see over it, it's just that there is some fairly large equpiment that is attached to the front mezz. I felt like if I were in further back in the mezz I could have easily seen more downstage moments without having to lean forward.

Don't sit to close in the orchestra or you'll be craning your neck at the scenes on the top of the set. If you sit in the mezz. Avoid the first row there's a railing that's a pain to see around and lighting equipment in the center.
I would recommend that you sit too close to the front in the orchestra. They use the full vertical height of the stage, so you will find yourself craning your neck a lot. It might also be difficult to see all the dancers at once, which is definitely one of the highlights of the show.
@LFAZIN yes your seats will be slightly obstructed
I'm going to NYC in october, I'm going to buy 2 tickets for Newsies in the N row at the center orchestra, is this a good selection? Do you think I'll have any problem?
Mariodelagarza Your seats may be slighy obstructed...honestly anyhin past row L in the orchestra at the Neaderlander for Newsies is slightly obstructed. Honestly as i have said several times I would go for Mezzanine tickets they are not only the best seats in the house, but they are also cheaper as well.
How much of the action really takes place on the top tier of the stage? I saw the show last month from the mezz, but I don't remember. (So much is happening, it's hard to focus on one thing!) Santa Fe is on the second level, I think, right? I know the newsies run up and down the set throughout the performance, but is it really necessary to see that top level?
No, nothing important happens at the top.
I've seen this from the rear mezz and from row K in the orch. I liked row K better -- more facial expressions.
But front mezz is more expensive that row N, row N is $127.50 and front row of the mezz is $163.00, what should I do?
Yeah, I'll echo that this is a show where I'd totally recommend being able to see the full picture of where the dancers move, etc....
Mario try side front mezz...they should be 127 or less
The first row of the side mezz is also $163 dlls

So, I think my options are:
- Center orchestra, row N, $127.50
- Front mezz, side row FF $130.50
Thank you SO MUCH for your help bdn223 and everyone :)
