I really enjoyed Cabaret, Matilda, and Hedwig.
On the Town is supposed to be great and I've heard good things about Honeymoon in Vegas and Sideshow.
The Last Ship.
It is an old fashioned musical comedy with a wonderfully melodic, witty and classic Broadway score.
Definitely the "feel good" show of the year.
Followed closely by Soul Doctor, which is of course a critic's darling. But it's Off Broadway.
^ I know but I took a little poetic license since it was on Broadway. It's just THAT good.
Phantom of the Opera.
I could argue that it's because Norm Lewis really puts on a kick-ass performance, but in all honesty I just really like the show.
- On the Town
- Matilda
- Kinky Boots
- You Can't Take It With You
- Gentleman's Guide
And if it's the kind of show you enjoy:
- If/Then

Bumping this thread because I'm curious of people's (who have seen more Broadway shows than I have) opinions now about what the best show(s) on Broadway are.

I personally don't think The Color Purple is the best show on Broadway (pretty close, though), but I do think Cynthia Errivo's is the best performance now and, if my five decades of theatregoing are any indication, arguably one of the best ever.
