My son and I went to see "Company" a few weeks ago, and managed to hit it on the one weekend (apparently) that Raul Esparza was out. We saw Bradley Dean, who was very good, but we'd still like to catch Raul's performance. I'm just wondering what the best plan of action would be. Should we go in and check the lobby first to make sure he's not out? How early do they put up the "At This Performance" info. on the board? Can we call the box office, and how early would they know if he were going to be out?
Also, we'd rather not pay full price since we've already seen it once; does anyone know if "Company" is ever on TKTS? We were thinking of trying for tomorrow night; is that crazy?
Thanks!

My boss & his partner just saw Company again on Sunday by using TKTS. How old is your son? If he has a student ID he can get you 2 student rush seats for $36.25 each (and they're front row.)

Last time I asked they put up the "At This Performance" board an hour before the show, sometimes half an hour before. So there's really no way to tell.
Company is usually on TKTS.
Raul is above the title, so if he's out the day you go, you could ask for a refund.
The board must be up when the house opens. So that is 30 minutes prior to curtain. A lot of times theatres put it up early. I would go with the sudent rush, or TKTS.
How high is the stage from front row? I read in another thread that they sell the front row as rush and then the sides of the orchestra. I want to rush when it gets a little warmer out so I was just wondering. Thanks!
As far as I know, the sign must be up one hour before curtain. At least, that's the rule we follow.
It's not too high, Mel, and there's a decent amount of legroom, so you're not right up against the stage staring straight up. Rush is also sometimes the boxes, though.
The board MUST be up 30 minutes prior to curtain. Most theatres put it up and hour or more earlier, just so that its up when people start getting arriving, and your not surprising the audience.

Aside from scheduled absences, Raul's got an impeccable track record.
Thanks,
My son is 14; would a high school ID qualify?
I don't know if I'd want to sit in the very first row, but he might like it. I could get student rush for him and a seat for me somewhere else. Or, we might try TKTS.
I know Raul's attendance record has been fantastic, that's why we were so surprised when he was out. Judging by the reactions of many in the lobby, it wasn't a scheduled absence. But we'll hope that history won't repeat itself!
I'm sure the weekend he missed was schedueled.
Thats the only performances he's missed so far.
If you go any day of the week thats not his vacation, he should be in.
I'm pretty sure that as a general rule, any school ID counts. So it's fine that he's in high school.
The weekend he missed wasn't scheduled in advance, but the box office did know on Friday that he'd be out for the next couple of days.
I'm in HS, and I got rush tickets.
I did student rush last Sunday, was the first in line, and got box seats (front two seats in the left box). The person behind me got a front seat in the right box. I glanced down at the front row during intermission and I didn't recognize anyone who had been in line behind me for rush earlier that morning. So I think maybe the front row seats are sold as student rush only on weekdays. I'd love to see the show again from the front row, though.
SNL, what time did you get there?
Both times when I did rush it was on a Sunday and I got front row. (The same seat even.) The last time I went was Jan 28, maybe it's changed since then.
I got to the theatre at 11 AM and the next person didn't arrive until a little before 11:30. That's weird about the seat locations. I was expecting to get front row. I guess it's whatever the box office decides that day. Ah well, at least I saw the show.
IIRC, Raul unexpectedly missed a Weds matinee a couple of weeks ago, although he was in for the evening performance.
While we're on the subject, does anyone know if Raúl has any vacation planned? It's just I'll be coming a pretty looooooooong way when I visit NY next, so I'd really like to know if he's likely to be in or not, barring accidents and illness.
I haven't heard an exact time period, but I do know it won't be for quite a while.
