^Not at all how this industry works but ok
I agree that isn’t how it works, but I also agree she will never replace this role. It doesn’t matter what she “deserves,” but I would be shocked if she took over Elsa. Also, anyone who was part of the workshops and readings is making money off of the show (this was announced a while back), so Betsy Wolfe is currently getting developmental paychecks from Frozen. That will be the end of her connection to this show.
I know how the industry works. I don’t know how my comment implies that I don’t. Betsy will not replace in this show. Plain and simple. As mentioned above, she’s literally getting risidual checks for the labs she did. Betsy is smart, that’s all I’m going to say.
Ive always been curious....does anyone have any idea what a "standard" risidual might look like in this case? I'm sure there is wiggle room in contracts, but I'm just interested in a basic figure.

I mean SJB eventually did wicked so. Well if she doesnt do the role I hope she sings the music at some point. I mean stranger things have happened in the industry so who knows.

Well, she replaced in WAITRESS, so this is different . . . how?
I’d say the difference is Waitress was her first time as a lead and first time replacing. So now the next step for her is originating a lead role.
I think it's fascinating how touchy people get in general, whenever there's a discussion about Betsy Wolfe on these boards.

First, it's "residual"; and second, trust me, no one is getting rich off of the residuals from a FROZEN workshop (or any workshop for that matter).
Thanks for the spell check.
But no, I didn't think anyone was getting rich from it, and that's not my reason for asking.

Yeah, I kind of feel bad now for expressing/hoping that she could become involved down the road with Frozen and I shouldn't. I enjoy her talent and would to see her shine in Frozen or any other show honestly.

Really. I think it's fine to hope an actress you are fond of gets a chance to originate a lead role. But, let's look . . . Currently Bernadette Peters is a replacement, as is Victor Garber. Are they lesser actors because they have taken these roles? Was Julie White in DOLL'S HOUSE part 2? Somehow, it seems you are looking down at the replacements, like there is something wrong with it. Any actress should be happy to take a lead in a Broadway show, replacement or not, and be happy for the work . . .and perhaps give some attention to their work ethic while they are at it.

Exactly. If two-time Best Actress Tony winner Donna Murphy played alternate to Bette Midler in Hello Dolly!, and if Tony winner Donna McKechnie's last Broadway "appearance" was understudy for Chita Rivera for The Visit (and she didn't even get to go on), then Wolfe is not above anything. That said, I doubt she'll replace Elsa given her history with the role and this production.
