For my tastes, Jane Lynch comes across best in a "developed imrov" format. The type of comedy I feel she's most successful with has been in the Christopher Guest roles. I think her comedy is more character-driven. She's not been as funny on talk shows where a person needs to be more spontaneous.
I like NPH as a host because (IMO) he's fast on his feet and his delivery is just "dry" enough to be non-threatening. He's got the intelligent and topical sarcasm of someone like Ricky Gervais, but also has the countenance and stage presence of a David Niven-type. Where Gervais often ends up crossing behavioral boundaries, NPH always seems to come off smelling like a rose.
Sean Hayes hosted the Tonys in 2010 and was OK, but (IMO) was too "clown-ish". Didn't work for me.

"Is he really that big of a name/draw?"
Considering he is the star of the highest rated situation comedy currently on television, a two-time Emmy winner, and he played to sold out audiences in HARVEY last summer, the answer is yes, he is that big of a name/draw.

Posted: 4/25/13 at 5:53pmI would really like to see Whoopi do it again, I loved it the year she hosted, and even though she works for ABC, that didnt stop them from having her host it before. If not Whoopi then Hugh Jackman, he is always welcome by the Broadway Community and was a great host before.

IMO, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of NPH and JP together. Think it would be a wonderful combo--they are both very funny and could play off each other well.

Neil Patrick Harris needs to stop. I hated him as a host, and I don't find anything about him appealing.
ANYWAYS, if Jim Parsons, does end up the host, okay fine. Not sure how exciting he'll be, but who knows.

Posted: 4/27/13 at 12:37pmJim Parsons is not hosting the awards. The announcement is coming this week. There has been a tradition for many years now of not having contending nominees host the broadcast which eliminates the Nathan Lane and Tom Hanks folks from being asked. And CBS will not select a star from another competitive network series to host on their network as long as they can advance their own brand.

Matthew Broderick/Kristin Chenoweth and Robin Williams have CBS pilots ready for the fall but CBS hasn't announced the fall schedule and won't for a couple of weeks -- the upfronts won't be held until mid-May so we won't know what new shows are added until then.
