lemme tell all of yall sumthin. GOSPEL music is one of THE hardest styles of music to sing. Beyonce has a 5 octave range-just like ms chenoweth. kristin cant sing gospel. but i bet you beyonce could belt out "Glitter and be Gay" with the best of them. And furthermore, Beyonce does not have a POP voice. she has a GOSPEL trained voice. buy her album and youll see. thanx.
and bernadette has a beautiful tone to her voice, but she is not a GREAT singer. and dont even get me started on Idina. oh yea she can sing her ASS off and i love her just as much as the next queen but um Beyonce can SING. and why does beyonce not deserve it? exactly why? u cant say it's because she's overrated. i think many actors on broadway are very overrated and overexposed. jus tell the truth people! u dont believe people in the music business are good enough to do theatre material just based on that fact. because they didnt go to CCM or struggle on broadway. Singers experience their own trials and tribulations to get where they want to go in life. they deserve the same respect as someone who wants to do other things in life. and not to play the race card or anything but i honestly believe black performers arent respected ANYWAY. so im not surprised by the comments. except for you ljay.
ps ljay- i kno u wanna get technical vocally about stuff but in gospel music mezzo isnt really valid.
i was at a church in houston when destinys child was doing their gospel concert and Beyonce sang a song called Total Praise and she blew the roof off with a "Mariah" note.
