Beyonce singing

my opinion is: YOU GO GIRL!!!!

Is anyone sick of her yet? I feel like she has been so overexposed for last year and a half.

It doesn't relate to the original score, but the melody of "Learn to Be Lonely" is played several times during the film.

She'll also be performing 2 or 3 other songs that evening, which I don't like. It takes away the character and some uniqueness away from each nominee, since 3 or the 5 songs will be sung by the same person. It just seems sort of pointless to me. I'm glad though that she's singing LEARN TO BE LONELY - not that it's Beyonce, but because Minnie Driver does nothing for the song and hopefully someone talented will make it seem like it's actually a decent song.

Beyonce is a FANTASTIC singer. Like her or not, she has a fab voice.

Beyonce will be very classy not to mention amazing. I can't wait to hear her with Josh Groban and what ever she does with the phantom song will be better than what was done in the film. She was very good at the awards last year and look what a power house she was at the superbowl...come on , give credit where it's due.

I'm with you Silent. Three songs is a bit much. I personally think that she's quite talented, attractive, and marketable, but borders on being overexposed. If her handlers aren't careful, she could experience a backlash in the marketplace soon. It seems that a lot of people online at other sites are wearying of her too. Too much of even a good thing is not good.

Minnie Driver is not singing because it was a computer generated voice in the movie.
And I think it's really dumb that Beyonce is singing two songs at the academy awards... 0/2 that she was nominated for. She better not pop up "Believe" or I am going to be so mad! I love Josh Groban... and she better not ruin the song for me.
It sort of makes sense, because they need someone who people will watch... but I don't think she needs to sing two songs. One maybe, but two is way too much. She is not talented enough, nor did she earn it.

Kangaroo, its actually 3 songs, not two. That really bothers me as well. Let someone else get a chance! I agree with you that she doesn't deserve to sing three of the songs. Even if she were incredibly talented (which I'm not convinced she is), I just think a little variety would be better.
And I'm also wondering why you think Minnie Driver's voice is computer generated: I know she didn't sing her other songs in the movie, but I've never heard anything about Learn To Be Lonely being computer generated.

I think Beyonce has an amazing voice. But I doubt she can outsing Kristin Chenoweth. She doesn't have a range close to Kristin. Beyonce's upper range is mainly mezzo. But I don't really think you can compare Beyonce to any of those Broadway singers you mentioned, they are aren't really similar to Beyonce in singing style.

I agree with kangaroo. Beyonce is an extremely talented person, and she has a wonderful voice, but I wouldn't go as far as to compare her to Bernadette Peters...... hmmmm
