I think all the non-performance awards are considered "technical".
Basically all the awards NOT aired.

Re the lip-synching, I could have sworn Vanessa Hudgens was doing so. I've seen her "Champagne" number only once (mercifully), so I'd have to re-check to make sure. Did anyone else form that opinion?

But it was a BIG WIN for the American Musical Theater and its future!
On what merits??? Considering last night was such a bore, I strongly dispute that.

No, didn't feel that way -- I felt she got herself way ahead of the music, which was already racing.
(I was glad to see someone else questioned the tapping.....I thought a little sounded off.)

Re-watch it. Vanessa was definitely not lip-synching. You can hear the consistency between her ad-libbing (and laughter) with her actual singing. That's usually a good sign of an authentic live performance. You cannot "fake" that kind of stuff.

We do not want the Tonys as a comedy special
No let it turn into a torture fest like the Oscars.
I cannot believe someone upset over the sidecar in ISHBY after reading this thread.

They should ALL be aired in my opinion... but I still can't believe they don't at least air choreography. That could be a huge selling point for a show.

Yes, I want them all aired as well.....but I don't see how seeing the choreo award would make a difference at the box office.
You get to SEE the choreography in the performances.

The average theatre-goer, I guess. They kept touting the high grosses last night. This is due to the outrageous prices charged and isn't all attendance. I only see the prices going up.
Fun Home prices went up last night.

The "tapping" was obviously recorded because someone hit the "play" button during Ruthie's speech. How rude.

I swear I thought that was a bunch of chorus boys who were going to dance her off the stage for taking too much time.

"Oh we're the boys of the chorus, we hope you liked our show, we know you're rooting for us, but now it's time to go."
She's such a pro she made it extra hilarious.

""THE VISIT will pot a closing notice on Monday. AAIP will do just fine for a while."
I doubt they'll post a notice today. Maybe tomorrow. But not today. "
Well... so much for that.
