Whoever said John Stamos gets my vote. I hold him personally responsible for sinking Nine.

Back in the 1960's (before most of yuo were born), Al Hischfeld did a hilarious series of "Miscasting" caricatures for the NY Times. They included:
Jason Robards as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream
Zero Mostel as Peter Pan
Carol Channing as Medea
Robert Preston and Sammy Davis Jr. as the Dromio Twins in Boys from Syracuse.
Christy Carlson Ramono(sp?) as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. I didn't like her performance AT ALL. Not to mention she died her hair blonde for some reason, when Belle is usually a brunette.
how about the most obvious of recent season- melanie griffith as roxie
Matthew Broderick in Music Man.
Oh, and Stamos coming in didn't sink Nine, Antonio leaving did.
Yet another Roundabout mistake.
Look, when I said Carolee it was a spelling error
I was refeing to Carole Shelley from Wicked
Not Carolee Carmello who was amazing in Urinetown

For a fantasy "wouldnt this be a hoot" scenario:
The Olsen Twins playing the three Andrews Sisters in OVER THERE
David Hasselhoff's Jekyll/Hyde is a given. All such 'stunt casting' is a given.
I would have to say Patti LuPone's Mrs. Lovett in the concert version of "Sweeney Todd" is pretty bad.
Christy Romano as Belle. Blechhh. Can we please get someone who can sing and doesn't go flat on every third note? Michelle Williams as Aida. Triple blechhh. Whoever understudies Tevye in Fiddler and is totally not Jewish. Harvey Fierstein as Brenda in Movin Out.
hahahahah harvey as brenda!!! how about harvey as the lead singer in movin out?
"I would have to say Patti LuPone's Mrs. Lovett in the concert version of "Sweeney Todd" is pretty bad"
I had always disliked Patti Lupone, that is until I saw her Mrs. Lovett, which was superb!

2 things...why was my original post denouncing Secada removed? And how on earth could NBC show clips of him after closing????? I am officially disgusted.
Tony Braxton. Wherever she appeared.

Hey, I actually SAW this one: Barbara Cook as Fanny Brice in FUNNY GIRL. George Hamilton was her Nicky Arnstein.
There are some great celebrity singers out there, don't get me wrong, but most of the times they put celebs on Bway is just to boost sales...therefore, there may be miscastings when they put a celeb in a role. Now, I think Christy is a good singer, but haven't seen her as Belle, so I can't really say anything about that performance. For some reason, I cannot see Joey Fatone as Seymour in LSOH...anyone seen him to prove me wrong?
Here are some roles for you, Harvey:
Millie in "Thoroughly Modern Millie"
Hope/Little Sally in "Urinetown"
Peggy in "42nd Street"
Velma in "Chicago"
Ulla "The Producers"
Sally "Cabaret"
Ado Annie/Laurey/Curly "Oklahoma"
Mama Rose "Gypsy" (so he could do that "FOR MEEEEEEE!" thing like he does at the end of "Big Dollhouse")
Elphaba "Wicked"
LOL - wouldn't these be the biggest miscastings? (except for Mama Rose, lol)
I loved Rod as Rose.
What you talking about Willis.
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
I love everyone but i hate to see great actors playing apes on Broadway. Especially when they have more talent then most people.
Bring back the Full Monty. Let talent play human roles.
There is nothing in the world like a big black man.
Andre belongs in human roles. Thank you!

Jon, I have to correct you.
When Hirschfeld did his miscasting series, Carol Channing was Lady Macbeth. I have the picture here in front of me and she's skulking about with the bloody daggers.
George Bush as Wilbur in Hairspray or The Wizard in Wicked...that would be funny.

Exactly why it is a big miscast.

I love David Hasslehoff. Just thinking of him makes me giggle. It is one of my biggest regrets in life that I missed him in Jekyll and Hyde. There's a video right?
